GLOOMY, LOUDER, HEAVIER

BRAVO met with Ville Valo and bassist Mikko Paananen at the hotel during their stay in Moscow. Guys were gloomy and serious as befits real gothic stars.

 

BRAVO: Hello! How are you?

Mige: Fine, thanx.

BRAVO: You're not tired?

Ville: From what?

BRAVO: From trips, training of the concerts and other hassles.

Ville: Maybe a little bit.

BRAVO: Ville, we thought today you were going to wear Metallica pin

Ville: I do not wear pins for a long time. And I don’t have pins with Metallica, only with KISS. (Ville is noticeably nervous. Apparently, because of the upcoming performance with such monsters of rock)

BRAVO: Ville, what's wrong with you? Are you nervous?

Ville: Yes, a little bit. Whenever we go on stage, excitement embraces us. Always.

BRAVO: Have you met with Metallica?

Ville: No! Imagine, we haven't met them yet.

BRAVO: How did it happen? After all, you have the joint concerts.

Ville: They are very busy, just as we are. So we can’t talk to them. We do our job, they does their job.

Ville: No, we always have different plans. We stop at different hotels. And I'm not worried about this. Maybe it would be cool to sit and chat together, but if that will not happen, I will not upset.

BRAVO : You have recorded a new album. And apparently, it will be much heavier than the previous records.

Ville: There are great songs! We enjoy when we play them. We performed the same thing for a long time during the tours, and now so nice to play something fresh. Moreover, the public taking a new material well and the direction in which we are moving.

BRAVO : And the lyrics? It changed?

Ville: I have a mute

Mige: I have a standard ringtone

BRAVO: Ville, do you think to start a solo career?

Ville: I am not sure, let see what will happen. We are together for a long time; maybe I'll do something alone, without a band. Now we are a very long time working on the new album, finally he is ready and will be released in the fall. So my thoughts and plans relate only to the new album. BRAVO: We would like to talk to you about emo and about new bands like Fall Out Boys and My Chemical Romance. What do you think about this music?

BRAVO: And what kind of music impressed to you lately?

Ville:  (Thinking) One California-based group, our clones, I really liked them. And one more thing that I liked it's from the new album Timbaland

BRAVO: Ok. Listen, if you have a chance to start life all over again, would you use it? And what do you change in the first place?

Mige: I would like to once again become an infant and sit on mother's laps! "Maaaa Maaaa!" (Shows an infant, everyone laughs)

BRAVO: Are you becoming gloomy or lighter with the years?

Mige: Gloomy! Definitely!

Ville: I'm becoming redder with every year.

BRAVO: Are there advantages in adulthood?

Mige: Yes, you become angrier, and people begin to fear you.

@super sheldon Thank You for posting this interview and translation and Welcome to this forum. . I have wondered if the band ever got close with Metallica on the tour. I wish that it would have gone better for Ville and the guys. Metallica fans can be brutal though, I know from back in the day and through my all time Best Friend For Life. lol. I saw Metallica with her a few times long ago.

 

@YourSweet666 I still can't believe I was so close to seeing HIM play a date in Washington in December last night... AMERICA lol. I was still thinking of it and laughing last night as I tried to sleep.

The good fate giveth and taketh away in short moments... I was shook. lol

I just saw Ville hated those new emo bands. I knew it. 

 

I will never forget mess from last night.  When you said "is that fake", I was thinking that never crossed my mind, I just straight believed it's true. 

 

I hate that band.
