A Song cannot go number one, and only have a chorus as the likable thing. People also like the rap. You may argue, dear stan. But just take a look around, How many people singing that hook, or having it as their ringtones, As opposed to the actual verses. Bet my money the only rapping part that people remember was that "first thing first" part and none other than that.
