What was your status with G.U.Y. before it became a single?

Pain of fame1

I loved it in the beginning and it was one of my fave ARTPOP songs, but by the time it became a single I was already bored of it.

Loved the song, hated parts of the video. I think it sounds best live and probably the song I remember most from AP.

I didn't like it that much before

Whispering

I knew it would never go over with the pop radio audience. It wouldn't have ever been my choice for a single, due to its subject matter that could be misconstrued in the minds of the average Pop music listener. That's what ended up happening.

A favorite with a portion of the members at GGD (which doesn't even represent the fanbase) =/= a favorite with the majority of Pop radio listeners

Just A Holy Fool

I knew I would love G.U.Y. before I even heard it. The description of it made me excited. Then I heard the snippet and I thought it sounded amazing... and then the full song :dead:

It got paid dust as a single, but the song is amazing.

It is THE power bottom anthem :hor:

Born To Slay

I wanted Gypsy

It was the most obvious single on the album. Then blackout & promo & death. It was constructed to be radio friendly and it is, but the timing was terrible.

Should have put out a quick DWUW video, then thrown GUY out in January with Promo & followed with Gypsy to finish. I hate Troy so much.

This would've slayed

PopBitch

I loved it when I heard it at the ITunes Festival.  On the album it's better than some other songs, but isn't a song I come back to.  Looking back, the video didn't  help it with the other songs as intros, almost really overshadowing the actual song by the time it came on in the video.  It kid of diluted it, I think.  It is a little dated of a song, but has strong energy.

I loved GUY and i do, But Venus could have an amazing single after Applause.

Venus is a cheesy mess with all of the planet naming, cringeworthy, take me to your leader over and over and over and over, etc.  If only it could have lived up to that brilliant chorus.   It would have gone nowhere as a single.

Aura would have been amazing or ARTPOP, my fave, two fantastic songs.  G.U.Y. might have done better coming out quickly after the momentum of Applause and maybe a video that was shorter and focused on that song alone and no Real Housewives.
