Didymus 34,380
Not off-topic at all. Let's be honest, by refugees they mean Muslim, Espically post-Arab Spring refugees. My sources says exactly the opposite, so could you please provide me with some of your info? http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2014/oct/29/todays-key-fact-you-are-probably-wrong-about-almost-everything
craig 680
The fact that 5% of Sweden's pop is Muslim and 16% are foreign born doesn't disprove that most recent refugees are Muslim. UK has been taking Muslim immigrants a lot longer from ex-colonies and only has 5% Muslim pop.

This^ and frankly I'm almost certain that the actual number is much higher than what is listed on official stats.

Anyway, I don't live there, I don't know the specifics, but I just thought it was weird that Islamization (I mean, how could 5% turn a country into a full-blown Islamic state?) was brought up into the discussion. Economy 52,956
Sounds like good news for Sweden. They take too many immigrants and it produces tensions, and their immigrants are mostly refugees from Islamic countries who don't fit in well. Canada and Australia focus more on economic immigrants.Ontario for some reason has been given less authority over immigrant selection than other Provinces We get dumped with all the uneducated refugees while smaller Provinces the Governmet lets them choose more. It isnt fair. Theres always a double standard. When Ontario is in trouble the Government never helps us cause were to big and it would take a lot of resorces from the Nation But because of our size whatever we can help in the Government drains us in Our Province is like a slave to the rest of the Country :crossed:
craig 680
Anyway, I don't live there, I don't know the specifics, but I just thought it was weird that Islamization (I mean, how could 5% turn a country into a full-blown Islamic state?) was brought up into the discussion. It depends on lot on the quality of immigrants - if they are well-educated economic immigrants with a positive attitude to Western culture, or refugees with high-welfare, high-crime, and high-extremist tendencies. Also it might seem in Malmo or parts of London that Islamic immigrants are taking over, while in vast regions of the country there are practically none. That's why the Islamicization of Europe is kind of a far-fetched right-wing nightmare, but the danger of a semi-hostile and economically depressed minority living in its own areas (like African Americans) is quite real. Goosey 3,017
Sounds good, there are way too many immigrants. I've heard tell of Swedish towns absolutely bristling with minarets, like great man-made porcupines! Bordeciel 323
yeah it is, but we just cant handle all immigrants. we are one of those who take in the most and yet we only have 9 million citizens. its sad, but not surprising that a party like this is growing when all other parties has not taken its responsibility when it comes to immigration. its basically like "hey, lets take in as many immigrants as possible!" and then like "oh wait how can we help you in the society" most get a worse situation than they already had in their own country. Yes same here in France. But our situation feel so worst to me (not only immigrant uh, I understand why they come) with politic & economic stuff, global mentality. I like Sweden much btw, this country is creating so many things for a 9 millions peoples living here got to say you rock :saira:

Economic immigrants, imo extremely unfair because it delays the progress of second and third world countries to get better living standards so much. I don't have this strong feeling of a border anymore, being patriotic or nationalist is just stupid - you're proud of the fact that you are born within a 300km range as painter X, or that people with the name of your territory win a sports game, while you might not have any relation to them. And it's not like they hurt the economy. Wothout immigrants, Europe would be like Japan right now. Immigrants are needed to keep the workforce increasing. I'm all for better integration and lower crime rates, but honestly both sides need to work for that. Don't isolate immigrants, give them the same chances as locals, and let them keep the parts of their culture that they want to keep (religion, what language they speak at home, when they eat, etc.)

And what does it matter if there are more mosques anyways, anyways? They're beautiful buildings tbh.

Luc 4,776
is it weird that i suddenly agree with you there it's kinda hypocritical for us to say that, but it's just something I realized. Why would I be proud of the fact that I live next to the biggest port in the western world, I have no actual relation to it, I didn't help creating it why fight with other people over something like soccer teams, does it even matter? Is it you that is earning 2x more when winning the soccer match? So many things I do that I'm just like... why?
