She was close friends with not only Donatella but very close to the great Gianni Versace himself before he was murdered and Donatella took over. She's worked with them over the years and I'm sure Gaga will again also. Donatella and Madonna have always been close, even since the late 90s early 00s. Donatella also went to the MDNA Tour (I believe the Milan date). Both Madonna and Donatella have been friends for a while now, it's more recently that Gaga and Donatella have been friends so if anything technically Donatella "betrayed" Madonna.
