LISTEN: Madonna - Wash All Over Me & Rebel Heart (FULL)

I feel like these songs are the real DNA of Madonna in a way that MDNA wasn't.

Yes, I do agree that you can tell she's put more heart into them.. a rebel heart, lol

However I CAN'T get into "Rebel Heart"... I just can't. I heard it is not the first single (hoping and praying it isn't because honestly, I don't think it is strong enough)

"Wash All Over Me' is a whole other story, I am very impressed with it, and the "fairy tale" feel works better here where it doesn't on Rebel Heart, haha.

It definitely brings me back to the 'Music' era, with some inklings of "Like a Prayer", ROL and AL. I honestly hope they don't process her voice or do much more with it because I like the laid back nature she sings on it, something she hasn't done in a while on MDNA and HC albums - and though I actually like a lot of tracks on those albums, her vocals were very strained in parts, pitched and processed. Immediately I can tell a difference here.

rebel heart's so cheesy and lackluster. i'm surprised by the positive reception towards that and the negative reception towards Wash All over me :excuseme:

TBH I think that the chorus of RH sounds way more Madonna-ish than anything (including WAOM) she's done since American Life

Well yes, it is Madonna-ish.... because Madonna writes her own stuff and you can tell, lol (some good, some bad)

I hope that is just the undertones on Wash All Over Me because she sounds old and haggard. Not hating she just sounds like she recorded it on a hospital bed. But the beat kinda bops.

I'm kinda bored with Avicci tbh tho and I am far more excited to hear what she has done with Diplo.

I've tried hard to like her, but her voice :wtfga: I just cannot stand it

Her voice is not for everyone, it's an acquired taste. TBH, I love her vocals from the 80's and 90's... she is not the strongest singer but I've always liked the sound of her voice. Even on a lot of her 2000's work too. But not all.

Don't forget, these are demos and not the final mastering I don't think. I really don't like her voice on "Rebel Heart" but do on  "Wash All Over Me" because it is simple and laid back... especially those minor chords. Because for as much as she isn't the best singer, she has a real understanding of melody IMO.

But like I said, it is an acquired taste for those who don't listen to her much, but people who don't like it can check out more and suddenly find themsleves addicted to a vocalist who works with what she's got, haha, and also, has always really understood a melody, hooks, and harmonies.

They both are generic Avicci EDM, what a suprise. I would like to start by saying that Madonna is a legend & was an artist, it makes me very sad to see her jumping on hot trendy people to sell over appealing to her real fans that truly love her....

They're good demos so far, but I just expected a lot more, something more explosive I guess....

Rebel Heart - I like the vocals, I just wish it had a Bridge & another chorus, I noticed that these tracks are very repetitive, the beat at the breakdown is so boring tbh, I hate how EDM artists go for being ironic where you expect a huge drop & then it's a generic basic beat that contributes NOTHING to the song, however I do like the song because it kinda reminds me of Ray Of Light, arguably her best work

Wash All Over Me - Hate the vocals, she sounds so dead & lifeless in there & the beat and instrumental is obviously laid back intentionally, which is nice, but this track also lacks a bridge & is very repetitive, over all it simply does not capture my attention, it makes me feel like I'm having a mid-life crisis :awkney:

I give Rebel Heart a 6/10 & Wash All Over Me a 4/10... I truly hope that these tracks get a good modification or just don't make the final cut (if there are better tracks)

I'm excited to see what is coming, I really hope we don't end up with another Hard Candy or MDNA :emo:

The 3 snippets we have so far are 10000x better than anything on MDNA.

We may not have listened to the same records :awkney: MDNA is not half as bad as people make it out to be.
