No, it's not like that. Women don't choose to be women, but (most) celebrities choose to be famous. If a person chooses the spotlight, then he/she can't complain when it's on them. However, I do find it wrong to harass a celebrity's child because the child didn't choose to be famous.

Katy choose to be famous. Being followed by the paparazzi is part of the price of fame. She has no expectation of privacy when on a public beach. She should have made the deal with the paparazzi because they have the same right to be at the beach as she does. She needs to learn how to deal with them like Gaga does. This is one of the many reasons I don't like Katy. She acts like a spoiled brat. She wants all the benefits of fame, but complains about the small costs.

Celebrities choose to act in movies, make albums, star in TV shows- having their personal space invaded isn't what they signed up for, it's a crappy side effect they have to put up with. Some people take the "Celebrity" route, i.e. those who are famous just for being famous, but to say that just because you're a successful musician or actor that you can't complain when people harass you on your time just seems bogus. It reinforces the idea that people should put-up-and-shut-up when something wrong is happening.

Just because something comes with the territory doesn't make it right, and I don't think anyone should be defending the paparazzi.

I agree. Gaga knows that they are doing their jobs and she tries so hard to give them what they want, a photo. They built a respect for her because she cares about her fans and they see that ex. coffee, pizza, snacks for fans and even papz. She doesn't trash them or insults them but understands they are an extremely important part of fame business and knows how to handle them= Gaga is the Olivia pope of Hollywood lol

i love you for that! :giggle:  and i agree, there is nothing scandalous about this situationâ€â€katy should learn from gaga when it comes to handling papz

But taking pictures isn't harassment. And no one has a right to privacy in a public space!

Taking pictures isn't harassment, but following someone, shouting at them, insulting them to get them to react, yelling at them repeatedly to look at you, bribing them by telling them to do something so you'll leave them alone, shoving a camera in their face, and continuously doing this even they after repeatedly ask you to stop is harassment.

Paparazzi don't just hang out behind some bushes sneaking photos and staying quiet (which would also be rude), they do the above.

And where would Katy be in the media without the paparazzi? She'd probably be on the things she has consented to be on, promoting the things she actually wants to promote, encouraging people to talk about things that actually matter to her rather than the color of her bikini. And then maybe the media could focus on more important things instead of how much cellulite a musician has at the beach.

Kayla, she wouldn't be able even to promote anything. Same people take pictures of her at red carpets, award shows, when she shows up at fashion show or promotes her new fragrance. Those are the same people and their photos get to media and she gets the attention and promo, she gets on best/worst dressed list etc.

She even covers up in a towel when she walks through an airport. Is it that difficult to wave and smile? You have bodyguards to take care of them not getting too close.

That's fine, but I'll defend most paparazzi all day long and I have. Celebrities are not having their private space invaded when they are in public. They are in public; they don't have private space in public. That's part of being "in public." I don't have private space in public, and neither do you. Nothing wrong is happening. They have every right to take a picture. They can talk to her and ask her questions, too. She doesn't have to respond though.

Somethings the paparazzi does could be considered harassment particularly shouting names at her or obviously if they touch her. But just yelling questions at her, probably isn't harassment. Following her around probably isn't either unless they do it all the time, not just a week when she is in Australia. You can't accuse a whole group of people of harassment and get a restraining order against all of them.

Standing behind bushes might be rude, but there's nothing illegal about it.

Katy would be in hysterics if the paparazzi wasn't following her because it would mean that she wasn't relevant. Katy Perry loves the paparazzi like most celebrities do. She loves the attention. She knew exactly what she was doing when she went on this twitter rant, too. She knew there would be articles and people talking about her. She got exactly what she wanted. She is just having a fit that she doesn't get to choose when she is famous when she goes out in public.

But he is not famous. Katy is. Paparazzi are part of the reason. Where she would be in media if they all always ignored her? No one would talk about her.

She can afford bodyguards too. Or go to a private beach.

Celebrities have rights too.

Yes, but they don't have a right to privacy when they are in public. No one does.

If someone doesn't want their picture taken in public then they should have the right to control their image.

That's a nice thought, but that's not the law. Photojournalists including paparazzi have editorial license to use the photographs they take in public.

Haha Love you too boo :kisses: . And you are right there is nothing scandalous about a bathing suit picture when it happens to hundreds of celebrity's. I mean you get pictures of you in less than a bathing suit on stage and videos of lip syncing so wtf is the issue now?!  Handling Papz is an art one Gaga has mastered. Call me when Gaga is caught having an affair with the President lol then we will have a real scandal until then Bye Katy or should I say Bye "Felicia:" lol

This is why I stan for Gaga. She knows the paparazzi comes with the territory, and so has a relationship with them.

She gives them what they want, and doesn't complain about it. If you didn't want that life maybe you shouldn't have decided to become a pop star :awkney:
