So when do we get a really super gay male singer who starts pandering to the straight community?

I love that people are progressing, but I am still waiting on the Rolling Stones cover that is a gay guy who is "America's Gay Sweetheart"

He can pander to whoever he wants. It's only a matter of taking the "bait".

Stay mad hypocritical queers.

Yeah, this sounds like the opposite of a problem.

Never said it was a problem, said it was pandering. Pandering to any certain group of people is definitely a key aspect of marketing these days. Justin Bieber, One Direction, etc. are huge examples of it. Hell if Justin pandered more to the gay community I would buy more of his music. Nick Jonas is doing it because he knows he isn't the most popular star in the world and him + his team want to get every single cent they can out of this album cycle.

It isn't a problem, it just is healthy to point these kinds of things out.

Paper Gangsta

lifting your shirt off at a few gay clubs + saying "i love my gay fans" + showing a picture of your butt crack (girls don't care about that, I don't think" + mentioning that your character might be bis-xual on a show hosted by a gay man = pandering to gays

He was supposed to say he hate them or what?

How did I ever insinuate that is what I meant? I said he was pandering, as in, trying to maximize how much money he can get from us. It isn't inherently good or bad unless you hear things that contradict his actions. If he did all this but then was recorded saying "oh I hate f*gs" then it would be screwed up.

It's a changing media landscape where companies and popstars realize the potential of reaching the gay market, which is great because it makes us more vital than we used to be. However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't point out when someone is trying to reach our audience.

Any of those acts that he did wouldn't be pandering if they were done in isolation, however they very much strung together like a PR person told him what to do and when.

Oh look, more fuel for the gays' incessant need for drama and b*tching :coffee:

You would think that someone who is a part of such a queer-friendly fanbase would avoid from making hurtful generalizations like that. Shame on you, honestly.

I am gay, and am very aware and informed about the gay community, and am simply giving observations of said community, so your argument is invalid. Like in any community there are exceptions to the rule, but on the whole and especially in the mainstream gay culture this is how it works.

I find it degrading and disgusting so that so much of gay culture, now that it's mainstream, is about judging, dragging and shading others, and for what? For insecure a$$holes to feel better about themselves? No thanks.  Y'all can have that if you wish and be just like every other part of mainstream culture, but it is not the type of community I would want for the gay community, yet has unfortunately been bought into by the majority of the gays. You need like no further than Twitter, this fanbase, hell even this forum to confirm that depressing fact. Gays on the whole have bought into it, and it shows no sign of going away.
