I understand indoor bans but outdoors?

Dust, exhaust, cleaning etc fumes are FAR worse than a tiny bit of second hand smoke.

I love Canada but this is stupid and senseless. I am a smoker myself and this is just plain ridiculous. :madge:

Not all of Canada did this. Only one province.

Also, kids play on playgrounds, so it makes sense to not smoke there.

And restaurant patios are full of people all ages and around food, so that makes even more sense.

It's not stupid at all. It's healthy that they're taking smoking away from food and kids.

But we're all gonna die sooner or later. I mean, banning smoking will not give you any more of an extended lifetime. :awkney:

If it's open air, there's really no reason to ban it universally... Restaurants/patios should be able to set their own rules IMO. Having a cigarette with a drink is really nice for a lot of people. You can always opt to sit inside or go somewhere non-smoking if you don't like cigarettes, which is what everyone does right now?

Aaaaand I don't think you need to be worrying about second hand smoke while you're outside and you live in a city... Much worse things in the air.

With that said, I just quit smoking three weeks ago and I'm quite proud of myself.  :haha:

I understand banning it in restaurants and such but banning it in public spots is stupid.Yes it might not be the best for your health but many people have vices that are bad.People that eat too much junk food and weigh 500lbs,people that drink too much etc. That will all contribute to a shorter lifespan.Where do you draw the line?Oh and look at some countries that have super toxic fumes like Thailand,China etc.

The part that says it is not allowed to smoke in a bar us biggest B.S. ever.

3 things that elevate bar experience: drinks, smoke, and good date.

worse things in the air or not many ppl dont like the smell and i think its highly inconsiderate of ppl to smoke around others and make them have to either leave or endure it. Its not courtious. They should smoke where there arent ppl :crossed:

Congrats btw :)

Free country, 'n' all. I agree that you shouldn't smoke in close proximity to others, but I don't think we need laws banning it.  I understand it makes you angry (imagine how I feel right now), but it's just not something that needs to be policed IMO.

Thanks!

Anything that will discourage smoking is a good thing. It may even encourage the occasional smoker to quit.

Dumb. Here they decided to treat e-cigarettes as if they were normal cigarettes too, you can't even smoke them on a park mountain top. Complete stupidity based on nothing more than "smoking is bad mkay".
