A good performance but so far all she has she has proved is that she has a better Jazz voice than a rock voice.

ย

Her Jazz is effortless where as her rock seems to be strained. Maybe needs some Rock Vocal coaching

ย

The terms Rock and Vocal Coaching just dont belong together. :wtf:

Interludicrous

The second verse and some of the other screaming is just her having fun, but the pre-choruses and the more soft parts are absolute vocal heaven :legend:

:fail:

ย

All the complaining about the screaming and how she messed up on the last chorus... I mean... Who cares if it's not perfect? It's just a rock song - no dancers - no backing track - no routine - no meaning beyond the lyrics and the emotion of the performer - it's not supposed to be anything but what it was. Gaga was just going for it with her band.

ย

I doubt anybody in that arena could make the same complaints some of you are making. Dont just blame ARTPOP for her confidence not being what it used to be. She has a group of very vocal fans who don't want her to just exist in the moment on her own stage.

I find myself watching this 10 times a day.. I love everything about this performance. Her vocals, her attitude, and she seems to be really enjoying herself. ย I wish I could have been there.ย

How people can even think that this is a bad cover? I mean: really?

She is pitch perfect. Her rock is what I'm waiting for since a long time!

Hope to get soon (lol) a rock album.

At first, the pre-chorus is marvellous. The mixture of soft melodies and sudden escalation to bursts of voice-straining are a perfect combination to me. I can feel her connecting to the lyrics, that she genuinely cares about what's going on. Subsequent frequent screechings just strain the eardrums, as if all previous hints of musical direction were discarded. A little too try-hard methinks. She makes the chorus less entertaining than the original; it feels a little underwhelming.

ย

And the last chorus:ย  :awkney:

Just because Linda does her thing on stage doesn't mean Gaga has to scream just as much or more and doesn't mean we have to like it. Cool if you did tho.

She took all the meaning and the feeling out of the song and made it an opportunity to showcase her exhaustivelly addressed "diversity" as an entertainer.ย

ย

Agreed. Very exhaustive indeed.

The good thing about all this, even if you're not a fan of the performance (i am),ย  is that the music writers are giving her all positive write-ups.

The best comes from Spin:

ย

But if there's one woman who fears no entry in the Sunfly songbook, it just might be Lady Gaga, who took on the 1993 crossover hit with typical full-throated elan at her ArtRave show in Vienna over the weekend, putting an oomph into her rendition that makes even Perry herself sound uncommitted by comparison.

------

Even the times on the verses where she can't quite reach the high notes, her performance is so emotionally (and physically!) invested that you can't really be anything but awed by it.

ย

This is just another great move to keep her in the right light for successful next-era promo.

I'm so here for a classic rock / ballad style albumย

Classic Rock?! I feel so old. I was a teenager when this song came out. Feels like yesterday. I was going NUTS over Gaga singing this song on twitter and I guess Linda Perry saw my passion because next thing I see she starts following ME! I wanna see Gaga do an alternative ROCK album in the future!
