66% of Scots support second referendum within ten years

Better Day

As many of yous know I am still very bitter about the soul destroying decision that Scotland chose to stay part of the union. However, due to a certain prime minister that has went into another illegal war, wanting to leave the EU, backed out of his Devo max plan for Scotland and cut public funds for Scotland by 2.3% (don't quote me on that). Some 'No' voters have regetted their vote (I know this is true because I know people like that)

Two thirds of Scots would support another independence referendum within the next ten years, according to a STV News poll.

Of those asked by Ipsos Mori, 66% said they would support the vote taking place in the next decade regardless of circumstances.

Just 31% would oppose a referendum in the next ten years.

The independence referendum was held on September 18, with No winning by 55% to 45% for Yes.

Since then Nicola Sturgeon, who replaces Alex Salmond as First Minister next month, has refused to rule out holding another vote.

STV News’ poll asked 1026 people whether they would support or oppose another referendum under a series of circumstances.

It shows 58% of participants would support a vote in the next five years, regardless of the circumstances, with 39% against this.

If a majority Conservative government were elected in next year’s general election, 54% would support another referendum.

A majority Conservative government with no Scottish Tory MPs, as predicted by STV’s poll on Thursday, would see support rise to 55%.

If a referendum is held on EU membership in 2017 and the UK elects to leave, 55% of Scots would support an independence referendum.

I'd be here for another referendum, but it is disrespectful to all involved for it to be anytime soon.

So yeah. Here for it. Ten years seems to soon though. idk

it's a legal war this time, is it not? they responded specifically to requests from the iraqi government.

anyway, that sounds good. i think if it does come within that short space of time that it'd be a decisive win.

that's not very sensible though, is it? how can it be illegal in your opinion but on a legal basis totally legal? they responded to an emergency call because iraq is under siege. they need help. whether or not it's the uk's place to help is another matter. but it's not illegal.

with respect i don't think you realise what you're saying. murder is illegal, but the war itself is still completely legal. it's not mutually exclusive. innocent people died on both sides during WW2 as well but you say that one was legal. how'd you work that out if murder is illegal therefore any circumstance in which murder occurs is illegal? just not how it works i'm afraid.

WW2 couldn't be avoided. However, this is just provoking ISS (or whatever you call them) to come to Britain and bomb. It does more harm than good

They are 100 reasons why we are better separated. One reason fairness.

Why exactly you are "glad we stayed together"?

but whether or not it can be avoided doesn't change the legality. you can have your opinion on the purpose or usefulness to respond to a distress call from iraq. but the fact that it is just that - responding to a distress call from a country in a dire circumstance - makes it perfectly legal.

Well they are plently other ways to combat them. War is never the answer unless it is really needed (WW2, WW1).

i agree with that. they should be aiding and strengthening the kurds, for example. but it's still legal. don't call it an illegal war just because you don't like it. it's a very different circumstance to the invasion in 2003.
