I heard the interview and she doesn't say that as a shade. It's more like, of course she'd like to collaborate with Britney but she'd have to do a duet with Elton John first!  :)

She didn't say it in that mean way that the title makes it out to be  She just said that as her direction has kinda changed, Elton John would fit it more than Britney Spears at the moment :laughga:

I'd love a duet with Elton John, mainly because I really enjoyed their performance of Your Song + Speechless at the Grammys all those years ago, and their performance of ARTPOP on the Thanksgiving Muppets Special

I mean, with basic reading comprehension that would have been obvious :smh: But oh well, if people were rational, this thread wouldn't have been 11 pages and entertained me for 15mins. So thanks people who can't read

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

Elton John is the fifth highest selling artist of all time, with sales up to 300 million. He's had a five decade career with over fifty Top-40 hits. This is the most ridiculous claim I've ever heard :toofunny: :toofunny: :toofunny:

Boo hoo, big deal.

The only reason Britney doesn't have that is because she is too young for it

That's what you think.

Here's a fact:

- Elton's last album last year (45 years into his career) outsold Britney Jean (15 years into her career)

- Elton's last tour outgrossed Britney's last tour. [aka Vegas "residency"]

Obviously there's enough people who care and give credit to him, and they do it more for him than they'd ever do with Britney.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I don't dislike him whatsoever, I'm just saying that he's not publicly given enough credit for what he has accomplished. Britney's name is just more notorious that's I mean 😊

You're right, she's far too young in her career to be considered a legend. You can't claim that she's more legendary than Elton, which simply isn't true. Maybe in 40 years, when we know where Britney's career ends up, you can say that.

Brit is famous for being a great dancer ( once) and playing the Lolita. She's exhibit #1 for label manufactured and controlled pop. Find a pretty girl with a mediocre voice and paint by numbers producers and take in the dollars. I like some of her songs but she's no legend except to pop fans who care about entertainment and celebrity more than music quality.

Looks like she's going to be on a much more mature route going forward. Less pop and more timeless classics :flutter:

Elton John is a big name in music history. :)

Recently, Brit's been eyeing Katy and Iggy more, actually. :rip:

Then she's on her own sorry not sorry :rip:

A duet with Britney just wouldn't make sense now anyway, and let's be real, it would come across as kind of desperate, like they're both doing it for that #1 single (but of course, the media would spin it so that Gaga would look like the desperate one :madge:).

Also, Gaga is miles ahead of Britney musically, and I have a feeling Gaga would be the one carrying the song. If she absolutely must do collabs, then I would say Elton is definitely a better choice.

Britneys sales are not on the level of Eltons bc she started later :smh:

Britney is the 2nd best selling artist of 2000s so bye. And these days a lot more people know Britney than Elton.
