Due to the budget surplus coming earlier than expected, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced tax cuts and benefits to parents with children, 1 year ahead of schedule. The surplus will not disapear as teh budget takes these benefits into account.

- Gardians will receive an increase of $60/month for children up to 18

- The additional bonus for children and under will rise from $100/month to $60/month

- Fitness credit for children raised from $75 to $150

- Couples with children will be able to income split. Instead of filling taxes as a couple, or each by themselves... Couples with children will be able to file taxes alone, but transfer income to a spouse so they can take advantage of lower tax bracket should one parent make more money than the other

I feel compelled to mention were a family of 6 and my dad makes a lot more money than my mom so this will affect my family BIG time :excited2: :excited2: :excited2:

Why you have scary faces for that?

The Canadian National Debt is $641 Billion!! Why don't they use the surplus to pay off the debt since it accrue almost $16 Billion in interest each year?

That's great :omg: really jealous

this will have a long term benefit as this will delay the process of the aging population.

What happen if the people use the extra money to buy more junk foods, liquors and cigarrettes? That will further the process of aging! LOL  :haha:

they will still be paying it down... the projected budget surplus is taking into account the tax cuts and the credits. But the finances allow for tax cuts while maintaining a surplus earlier than expected due to higher than anticipated revenue and economic growth

the surplus would be even larger without them but i think they are trying to help families and encourage people to have kids due to the demographic issues almost every developed nation has. These tax cuts and benefits are ONLY for parents with kids

And the debt is only 32% of GDP thats nothing. Most Developed Nations are surpassing 100%... The economy is fragile and the finances are solid. I see no reason to exagerated tightning

OMG Mulcair is an idiot im sorry. His economic policies and idea especially are absolutely terrible. Its like he doesnt understand the basics of economics

Im not trying to compare myself to an expert economist that went to university for 4 years... but u dont have to be the biggest expert in the world to acknowledge some of the idiotic ideas hes come up with. For goodness sakes, he thinks having more retired people is good for the economy because "there will be more jobs available"... :fail:

Does he not get the simple concept that what drives the economy is production and consumption (supply and demand)? more people retired means less people being productive and ppl also consume less when they retire cuz they cut in spending. So more retired people means a more dormant economy like Japans, plus higher taxes to pay for old age benefits. But he doesnt even understand that  :duck:

And Justin Trudeau... I would prefer him over Mulcair anyway but i still prefer Haper and the Conservatives
