for me ARTPOP is her best álbum with BTW-

if gypsy would have been the second single and had been promoted properly could have been a great success

I mean I just think Katy Perry is really popular right now and works with the right people. But tbh, Katy could never pull the **** Gaga does. And thats what I mean....like Gaga tries to actually bring art into pop.

I do however feel Katy is at her best when she writes darker stuff and her image is darker. I Kissed A Girl was actually kinda polarizing and Part of Me/Wide Awake had dark elements that were beautiful

perhaps... but its still a matter of opinion...

Gagas stuff is more abstract and symbolic. but what makes abstract more artistic than art?

Gwen Stefani wasnt as abstract (usually) but she was hugely creative using realism with a very light touch of abstract and symbolism

U can be easy to digest and be just as talanted or good. I do agree tho that theres a lot of stuff KAty couldnt pull off that gaga did tho

I happen to like her stuff tho. Most people here hated the Dark Horse video. I happened to love the cleopatra theme with the Egyptians... plus she looked smoking hot in it

Unconditionally also didn't do well.. She is obviously not irrelevant or something..But she really declined from her last album.. This one has only 2 hits.

Unconditionally peaked #14 - which is more worse then Do What U Want (#13 peak) and people still call DWUW a flop. Of course Katy is not irrelevant - she's still selling out shows and selling records - just not as much (Prism sold 2.8M± worldwide and ARTPOP sold 2.5M± worldwide) and Prism is considered her "BORN THIS WAY" era - 2 huge hits (Born This Way and TEOG) and 3 "small" hits (Judas, Yoü And I , MTN)...

But it is also quite obvious that compared to some of her contemporaries, she is the one that decreased most in popularity.

No, it isn't. Third consecutive #1 album. /thread

that's why this jazz era is good for her angie.gif

expecting a controversal and shocking era after this  Jazz is helping her climb her way up. It's just a little side project so she has a huge name again to slay them basics back. Iggy, Taylor, Charlie XCX etc. aren't prepared and didn't experienced the real Gaga yet. :later:

Not necessarily crap, but basic, simple, and relatable.

but why is that bad? art that reflects realism can be just as good as abstract or symbolism

same with music. Some people especially fans of artists like Gaga like to insinuate that if ur art is more normal that it isnt talanted...

It still takes creativity. It just seems mroe basic and easy to digest because its more "real" vs Gagas stuff being mroe symbolic or abstract

Yeah but ARTPOP narrowly became a #1 album. BTW had radio stations all over the world doing Lady Gaga Day when the damn album came out and it sold almost 2 million WW in it's debut week.

I am talking relative to herself. The others are still relatively very successful compared to their previous selves.
