XoXoJoanneGaga 629
I don't agree with this. Kanye is overrated. Okar fair enough, every artist has their detractors. I love Gaga but I wouldn't even compare her best music to Kanye's. I agree with you that she should be unapologetic, that's part of what made her so great and inspiring years ago. But she really had the work to back it up back then. It seems like the more she hypes an album the more it disappoints. So it's not that she needs humility, cause I think she had plenty of that after AP came out and we're past it now. I just think she should let the next album speak for itself and deliver something really great.

She ties herself in conceptual knots and thats one of the downfalls of ARTPOP and how it was received. As a commercial pop album its fine enough, as a supposed artistic "experiment" it fails. In my not so humble opinion it was mis-marketed by her. I'm not holding my breath but i'd hope for her next album she does let it speak for itself. I'm tired of her being conceptually knotted, with both Born This Way and ARTPOP. I think she'd benefit from stripping the excess and making an expensive sounding and focused album. Something more mature (and by mature I don't mean old). And as for Kanye I mean they're not even in the same landscape but if we must he is forward thinking in certain ways. But I think people get swept up in sensationalism and I think thats what makes someone like Kanye so respected by people who don't even know shiet about rap music. Because its one thing if rap fanatics think hes god, its another that some skinny ass gay hipster in l.a. that listens to Taylor Swift and eats chipotle is blasting 808 and worshiping him for no reason other than hes Kanye West. Gaga was once on that level not because The Fame was an exquisite piece of work but because people bought into the hype. Success in commercial music relies on perception imo and her regaining that kind of success relies on her tapping back into what shes seemingly been running away from since The Fame Monster. Part of the reason The Fame+Monster was so successful was because she whole heartedly intended on being a commercial pop star, whereas with her past two efforts shes been blindly trying to create a new standard for being successful in pop music which hasnt completely fared well for her either critically or commercially or both. Its a commendable feat but her execution has been a bit gaudy and confused at times. Maybe she needs to get back to pop basics to a certain degree and work from there? Idk. I'm rambling at this point I feel like ive gone on a tangent.
giskardsb 12,565
Gaga needs to take some responsibility. She can not continuously tell her fans that her latest album will be her best work, and "the album of the decade" and so on. What she needs to do is admit; she thought too highly of herself, didn't ask anyone for honest opinions and criticism. She just needs to clear her conscience, and not to put so much weight on her shoulders. or fans just need to get a grip and quit being drama queens that amplify everything she says 1000 times. thatfoxyfeeling 13,017
We thought ARTPOP was going to be TFM 2.0, she needs to invent a new 'theme' and come out with something fresh.
Lady Palutena 3,147
I thought she once said that "it's more effective to move forward rather than backward"? (I'm paraphrasing here.) The Fame Monster and it's era were great and all but you cannot replicate the exact same level of success...unless she waters it down for the General Public's taste, writes about the same trash on Top 40 radio and has Dr. Luke or some other well-known producer guy produce it. Let me be clear: I don't stan for Gaga because of her Fame Monster success, I stan for her because she's a genuine person and in the realm if manufactured pop stars, she's a pop star all her own. She creates the kind of music she wants and writes lyrics about the things she wants to. It's a welcome from others having 10+ ghost writers and having their beats and melodies done by someone else with no input whatsoever. Adoremus in caelum, Palutena. Dea luminis. Pain of fame1 229
Something like 1989 in late 2015: A great lead single in august with space performance also and then drop the album and let it speak for itself. Pure slayage like 1989
Bt1 5,213
No, No you can't gaga. I'm 100% sure about that. You might do a great album but you won't get to match this perfection that's how I see it. Prove me wrong please. Actually, she wrote at least one album that it is superior. Thats Born this way. The problem is that visually TF and TFM are at another level. She makes good music, but her videos arent at that level.

Fiona Apple 13,006
I am not doubting this. Gaga always has amazing hooks on her albums and still has a lot of talent to offer. I've noticed that Gaga's career and commercial success follows closely with Made's. ARTPOP was her Erotica, C2C is her Bed Time Stories which makes Album 6 her Ray of Light :P Haha that would be amazing..Ray of light is Madonna's best album! Lana's music means more to me than Gaga's music does. I really like Lana .But no.. Born to die was a great album but Ultraviolence is just terrible to me lol
llbcherry 591
This thread got annoying after 7 pages of trying to read it all. Just a bunch of assumptions based on an indirect quote from a fan followed by people arguing about their opinions, as if they are fact, and no one else's are valid. MESS.
