The visual weren't that impressive, the concept itself wasn't as promising as Gaga made it sound like. At times, she'd make you feel like ARTPOP is the most important thing to her, yet her actions prove the opposite. She let go of the entire project because of bad management, with only three singles and a cancelled video. She got a new management and none of that changed. mcphee 1,778 Posted October 26, 2014 Share Posted October 26, 2014 I adore the album, even after all this time. And I believe it to be her best most refined work. The tour was/is fantastic. I love artRAVE, and seeing it live was one of the greatest moments ever. The one thing I can say to sum up this era: wasted potential. The visuals we got were up there with her best. I love the Applause and G.U.Y. videos so much. I just get sad when I think of all the 'what if' scenarios when it comes to ARTPOP. I really wish it went exactly how Gaga had envisioned it. Hopefully, from ARTPOP's ashes, her next album and album era will rise up to be her best yet. I have the faith in Gaga that it will be. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Redstreak 6,653 Posted October 26, 2014 Share Posted October 26, 2014 Unfortunately it was a really messy era and only above The Fame in terms of how much I like it compared to her other albums. :( But I can't really blame her, there were so many negative factors going on behind the scenes that it's commendable that it did as well as it did and I'm glad she's pulled out happier and stronger. We did get some really great performances like iTunes festival, Jingle Ball, and the AMA's. What got me most excited was the Aura leak My top 5 would be: 1. I know in my heart that the songwriting, thematic substance, and production quality stand up to anything else Gaga has done, despite what others have said to the contrary. And it's fine that I'm in the minority, everyone else will come around one day. ;) Gaga has done herself proud on this one, and she should be proud of it. Favorite songs: 1. Gypsy - one of the best songs in her discography. 2. Sexxx Dreams - stunning, hilarious, tuneful, and s-xy as hell. 3. GUY - "Love Game" 2.0, with more lyrical chutzpah and a sci-fi-meets-hornet-nest sound courtesy of Zedd. 4. Mary Jane Holland - rock-opera gold. 5. ARTPOP - The thesis for Gaga's entire career in a mysterious, beguiling wave of synth paradise. The positives: a a fantastic concert experience, many great promotional spots (Swinefest stands out), and two of the best videos of her career. The bad: the better word would be disappointing. Interscope didn't know what they had on their hands, which is a shame because the album's many pleasures deserved to be seen and experienced in every possible medium. Guest Posted October 26, 2014 Share Posted October 26, 2014 My favorite thing about this era was the pre ARTPOP, I was SO EXCITED ! I love the album (my favorite album ever) but this era was a MESS. Sorry but we only had 3 singles, (well, only 2 had a BIT of promo…) And we only have 2 MV. I'm sad cause I really wanted Fashion! and Gypsy as singles and we will probably never have an ACT 2… I hope she'll release PARTYNAUSEOUS at the end of artRAVE for save this mess… #GagaReleasePARTYNAUSEOUS My top 5 is: 1) Fashion! 2) Applause 3) Do What U Want (ft. I listened to it pretty much everyday from November to September, and only stopped when Cheek to Cheek came out. My top 5 always changes, but I have teirs/levels that multiple songs fit into:Favorites: Applause Venus Sexxx Dreams Jewels N Drugs ARTPOP Fashion!Almost favorites: MANiCURE Do What U Want Swine Mary Jane Holland GypsyLove, but definitely not my favorites: Aura DonatellaProne to skipping: G.U.Y. Dope This era also brought great performances. I love the 2 televised Applause performances, and the AMA/the Voice DWUW performances were fantastic.
