I find it very insensitive that you'd post this article in this discussion.

I'd also be careful about spreading links from that website... :wtf:

Why? Why is it always forbidden to talk about THE CAUSE? It has to make people to think, violence produces more violence.

This is one of the comments

What is happening right now is very tragic but I don’t believe that they are the actions of an international organization but a group of frustrated individuals. The actions through horrific are not grandiose enough to be part of a big international plan.

These kinds of incidences are unfortunately going to multiply as long as three things continue to happen; the repression of free speech, the eroding of fate in the current democratic system and those meant to uphold it, and the government using the people and resources of the Canadian military to invade other countries enforcing a empirialist agenda. All these actions are at the heart of the Harper government. Does anybody believe these incidences would be occurring if instead of using the military to invade a sovereign nation we used them to bring books and medicine? To me the actions of the Canadian Government since Harper took power are much more terrifying the actions of a few individuals. Under Harper we have seen a corrupt election with the robo-call scandal, the erosion of free expression and an evasion of privacy and security under CSIS. We have over 1500 missing or murdered women and complete indifference on the part of the government and legal system sworn to protect them; this government has no right to take the moral high ground under the name of freedom and democracy, it is them who are truly dangerous.

What is wrong with the website? I don't get it.

I'm surprised you'd want to dignify some loopy recent convert killing in the name of ISIS, as some kind of warrior acting on behalf on the Islamic world against the West. Greenwald is a typical leftist idiot who hates America and imagines our extremist enemies are driven by HIS grievances with it's foreign policy, rather than by a religious ideology.

Why are you insulting this man? Because he doesn't think like you?

I'm not dignifying anyone, don't know how you made that conclusion.

But they are more driven by Western foreign policy than religious ideology, that is a fact. Ideology is just a cover and excuse for racists, xenophobes and islamophobes.

This type of terrorist groups didn't exist before Western invasion of Middle East, before US interference with everything in ME, before they funded them with weapons and money than acting surprised when they turn against them.

Not that coming from you who generalize israelis

If you want to bring that subject, show me how? Did I say anyone who owns Torah should be monitored as a potential radical Jew from JDL?

You are reported for that last sentence. Disgusting.

So what if I said it's a sect, that is how majority of Christians view people who "talk in tongues" and are very aggressive in their way of trying to convert people.

I'm not hating on a whole nation, I follow some Israelis on twitter who are pro peace and I quoted many of them. Nice try.

It's a dubious interpretation. It might hold weight for Palestinians.

But it apply it to Al Quada and ISIS and Islamism in general is as foolish as trying to explain Hitler primarily in terms of the Germans getting a raw deal in Treaty of Versailles, and thinking if we only we let the Nazis have this or that they'll be happy.

It applies to them too because Al Qaeda were the "good guys" when they fought against Soviet Union in Afghanistan and were getting training and support by USA, there are even articles when bin Laden was called "a warrior".

Wait, here it is

You would think they wouldn't make the same mistake with IS, but no.

Doesn't that just prove that however nice we are to extremists, they will always find something to be mad about and attack us for?

US is wrong when the support, wrong when they oppose, wrong when they do nothing.

I don't think small errors of foreign policy is enough to make millions of Islamic people go nuts.

I believe religious extremism has deeper religious and ideological roots.

No, it proves how stupid US foreign policy is. As long as they fight against US enemy they are not called terrorists or extremists, but when they turn against them they suddenly become just that, and out of context religious texts are brought forward as some sort of evidence.

You don't think that 4 million displaced and over 1,5 million killed in Iraq are not enough to drive some people to react and bring some portion of that violence back to the country which is occupying them? You don't think silent approval of Syrian regime killing over 220,000 civilians would drive someone to seek some sort of revenge?

These are not small errors. These are people's lives. Religion is obviously just a cover up and innocent people get labeled and suffer because of such generalization.

So the US is always wrong and guilty, whether they help a Islamic nation fight foreign invaders, get involved against an aggressive dictator, or stand by while a dictator kills? Can't win in your eyes. I guess you're Americanophobic

1) Illustrates the error Greenwald continues to make - thinking Islamists have reasonable goals and they'll appreciate it if you help them. Back in the 80's it was understandable, but no excuses now.

Solid criticism of him here: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/390953/glenn-greenwald-blames-canada-terror-attack-against-canada-ian-tuttle?utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Corner&utm_source=twitterfeed

Greenwald’s armchair psychology dismisses terrorists  a word he refuses to use  as scientifically predictable products of their environment. If the U.S. would butt out, the Islamic State would eventually dissolve, as time heals the wounds of American interference. Enlightened philosophe that he is, he cannot imagine a person who is simply ideological  not because he is upset with America’s support for the Shah or for Israel, but because he enjoys the warm, fuzzy feeling he gets slaughtering infidels. To Greenwald, that is “primitive, irrational, savage religious extremism,†and it is a “fairy tale†concocted by Western governments to consolidate power.

You get in every Isis thread and post links which kinda excuses it. So please stop.

I think calling my faith a sect is also offensive. Reported you for that.

Lmao.

Being against US foreign policy doesn't make person Americanophobic, does that even exist? There are many Americans who criticize it as well.

No I don't. Blame your poor english if you don't understand the article I posted. Report also the hundreds of millions of Christians who consider your "church" - a sect.

I never heard a Christian calling us a sect.

And don't shade my English. I most likely speak better German and Hebrew than you

:lmao:

I don't post links in German nor Hebrew, so that point is irrelevant. You also don't speak (better or at all) 5 other languages that I speak. So what? I will shade your English when you constantly claim that I support something which I spoke many times against.

And I lived in a country where majority were Orthodox Christian and there were also many Catholics in my city. And I live now in majority Protestant country. And I heard many times people refer to your "church" as a sect.
