mister 17
Off topic but does anyone think the album would have done slightly better if it had a different title? YES. It was labeled pretentious before it even came out. And I don't blame people for it, the title ARTPOP sounds really try-hard. If you're gonna create art, you shouldn't have to tell people. Good art speaks for itself. The title killed the era before it even began. :trootea: EDIT: I just now read through the thread and all of the fighting. I'm a little shocked, and I just wanted to clarify that I'm not a hater and didn't come to drag Gaga's work. I'm just sharing an opinion on an off-topic question about ARTPOP as a title. Not even getting into the whole ARTPOP/pop art thing, yikes. Sorry if I brought more negativity into this already godforsaken war-thread. Don't hurt me :toofloppy: I'm nice, I promise

Not saying YOU are doing that, but those who may have labelled the music before listening to what it had to say.
Fish 6,121
It sounds like she wanted to say PopArt, but ARTPOP came to mind this is the truth guys. because ARTPOP is recent and mixed her mind. thats all. she probably heard of it but never meant to use the actual gaga word. Fish 6,121
That is what I though. It seems as though Gwen meant to say Pop Art but because ARTPOP is a more prominent word in our 2014 lexicon, ARTPOP just happened to slip out. Regardless of whether she meant to say it or not, the fact that the word ARTPOP was floating around in Gwen's brain is solely because of Gaga. Which is pretty cool. THIS IS IT. now yall need to stop arguing.
Computer 10,973
Off topic but does anyone think the album would have done slightly better if it had a different title?I have always said this and many others have said it before me. ARTPOP was immediately derided by the media as a pretentious title meaning nothing. giskardsb 12,565
Geez, Gaga was probably not even being that serious she just thought it was fun. Little drama queens blow every dam thing out of proportion. And for all you know Gaga and Gwen have had discussions about it. And the funny part is that Gagas willingness to be "cringeworthy" an "pretentious" and to push boundaries is why she is where she is, and the rest if us spend too much time on Internet forums. User 352
Gaga had impact on the industry, believe me, in their minds they all want now to make ARTPOP > Beyonce, Gwen Stefani and Miley want to be gaga-esk crazy in a hipster catiekitty gif way - it's so trashy :shy: Gagas problem was the terrible planning, barely surprising innovative songs which one would not expect from Gaga, yes there were good popsongs, but it was missing something, the people wanted something unexpected. And a big problem: a styling per single who define ARTPOP and the single. It was to chaotic. Imagine > Partynauseous ( dance hiphop version ) with this styling, this would be so hard, like Gaga on Speed ---------------------------------- or imagine DWYW with this styling: ------------------------------- So many missing opportunnities Gagz - i'm scared that the others will do it right and steal gagas vision and get applause for it. But i don't think so, sorry, look who produced Gwens single and how generally it sounds. I hope Gaga at the end will surprise us with a DWYW video for christmas ( but please without R.Kelly, it's creepy and disrespectful,, but with another young singer (: ) And Partynauseous is not released yet, it's so perfect, the rave+hiphop combination sounds epic and like ARTPOP for me, Gagz make a video for it use the style up there. But Partynauseous must be produced edgy & massive. White Shadow tends make songs to flat and to oiled, he often steals all the thunder & power (exception: DWYW & GH / Applause has power but the timing steals catchy sounds, like the synthesizer the in the chorus, also Gags voice mix is a little disaster in the refrain ) + she need ARTPOP Act 2 with new songs, experimental rave+trance, + slower ballads with trance, her big voice and piano elements. + Gaga is the only in the industry who could connect music with theater, i don't understand why she don't play this card out ? Maybe she don't has a good team like in 2009 ? I hope she don't give up the ARTPOP theme, it has to much potential.

Tropico 4,145
LordT some of you are so angry at Gaga ALL THE TIME and feel the need to drag ARTPOP at any chance you get. :smh: Gaga can't even be happy about someone giving a shoutout to the term and concept she popularized? Y'all are messy. I'm so happy Gwen used ARTPOP like that and even happier that Gaga found out and was so estatic. :omgexcited: ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
garnite 8
funniest thing about this thread: you could put all the """""hater's""""""" comments on 1 page and the rest of the thread is people coming in on their perches about how people here are terrible, getting inflamed not by reading any actual hater posts, but instead by the myriad posts by people lecturing others on how awful they are being over this and ~blowing everything out of proportion~, beckoning them to rehash their own opinion on that. 5*
