djBuffoon 12,115
And the one that ****s me is "I hope she learned her lesson." I can't tell you how many times I've read that on here since 2011. Lesson for what? So that next time, instead of following her artistic vision -- whether it be good or bad -- she should rely on industry people to tell her what's good and what will sell? I thought most of us were here because we valued her independence and her drive to drive this ship herself. But, in the past 10 months, I've realized what people hunger for is a marketing machine. They hunger for the image she portrayed in 2008/2009, which is a s-xy blonde with radio-friendly songs with massive success, because it made it okay to like Gaga. Because "who doesn't like Gaga?" was a common thing people would say. When I think about it, it makes sense. But, on the other hand, she will never be able to do that and be completely as peace with herself. It was fine then because she had a completely different mindset. She wanted fame and once she found it, she realized life wasn't about being #1 all the time. It was about making her fans happy. The dilemma is that her fans are only happy when she's that marketing machine. Promo promo promo... So much tea. And I know someone will give me **** for this, but I believe, in my heart of hearts, that the fan consensus towards a certain album would be very different if more copies were sold. I'm not saying that I haven't heard valid criticisms towards it, but... that's what I know to be true.

She never failed to mention that she had to fight to get her music supported at first (obvi until dance music became trendy again), and even if she was more ambitious about sales/success at that time, TF/M still deserves credit; it was quality work. BUT everything else is spot-on. :trootea:

People felt part of a pop culture movement and when that declined many fans seem to have lost their own identity. Fans more of the phenomenon of Gaga than Gaga as an artist. Arizonadream777 184
I wish she blow everyone spots. Akon deserves to be dragged. And Gaga, you maybe didn't knew, but we were always there. Some of us where.

Cody Draco 2,531
MTE. There's a reason why she stopped lurking on GGD for a while, a lot of people in this fanbase were just as unsupportive as her management and record label, they only cared about "Where's the next single?", "Where's the DWUW video?", "Where's the promo??". But yeah, thankfully some of us do support her through thick and thin Well it's hard to support what she is doing when she doesn't open up and tell us why she is doing it until months later. Cody Draco 2,531
But she didn't owe us any of this information, and lacking updates doesn't justify say some of the things that were said about her at a time when she was trying to recover. Just because she's close to her fans doesn't mean she has to give out all the details of her personal life, especially during tough situations. Sure, some updates would have been nice, but she should be entitled to some privacy when she feels that she needs it. I doubt it... She still seems just as close to her dancers & other Haus members If she doesn't let us into her personal life, how could we possibly support her personal life? She shouldn't look to us anyways, she should look to her friends and family in those situations. I am on this site because I support Gaga's solo music and I love her as an artist. I don't know her personally, so if she doesn't give me any information I can't comment on her personal life. Her going through tough times is not going to make me lie about which songs I like and which songs I don't like. That's fake.

It's about people telling her to "get her sh*t together" (and far worse things that were said during the "blackout") because she was "taking too long" to get back to work when she was busy recovering... + considering how passionate she is and how much she hates disappointing fans like that (and how one can imagine any human being would probably feel when doing things like breaking a hip), it should have been easy to guess that she wasn't exactly enjoying the injury, and that deserves some level of support and sympathy. You may not know her personally, but she's a human being - a lovely one at that, from what she has proven - and she deserves to be treated like one. Obviously that is completely separate from your taste in music.

That's fake.True but there were a few months where the thoughts section looked more like Paws Down Little Monsters than GGD and that really pissed me off. It must have been hurtful. We can dislike stuff but some people have zero sense of basic decency. Im blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch.
Nemo 4,291
What is Teflon?Teflon is a non-stick coating used on frying pans. But colloquially, it just means that nothing sticks to [whatever]. See e.g. "the Teflon Don" (in that context, meaning that no charges stuck). Here, Gaga is saying that whatever you throw at her, it will just roll right off her. (Personally, I would've gone with some kind of armor a--logy instead of the Teflon thing, but whatever.)

Economy 49,555
Its amazing that artists and fans are actually surprised by this Record Labels at the end of the day are still entertainment businesses. Their main goal is money. Of course thats all they care about just like with every other profit business why are ppl always so surprised? Also as far as being controlling, as a record label, if your gonna spend money promoting an artist would u want them to risk doing something that wont make the money back you spent on them??? I wouldnt!!!! Although i must say... not even getting a hospital visit is just If an artist doesnt wanna be taken advantage of that badly start their own label. Abba did it, and several rap artists from nowadays did too!
