Ronk 14,762
I feel that during her despression, after feeling her team let her down, she felt she let herself down and her fans too. Going to fansites and reading negativity or even constructive criticism doesn't help when you feel that down. Her statement on not visiting GGD back then seemed pretty harsh to me and unfair, but it was wise of her to 'ignore' her fans for a bit. I think now, looking back, she understands most of the fans behaviour stems from the strong bound she has created with them and the comments are based on genuine concern and wanting nothing but the best for her. She couldn't hide that everthing was going wrong and that made everything even more confronting and complex. We know her too well and sense when things are off. I do hope she doesn't only make music for the fans anymore like she often states. All her fans are extremely different. One is a gay kid who loves pop and EDM, the other a girl thats into guitarrock, another a 55 year old guy who loves her voice and passionate shows. I want her to make music for herself, from the heart, follow her gut, if she does, her fans will love it. Or a 71 year old guy who loves how she spreads kindness, tolerance, positivity and joy around the world and leads by her own example, and how she is personally committed to helping people. Paper Gangsta 6,693
Yes, customers have the right to complain about a product, but to say unkind things to try to take someone down emotionally or to spread misinformation about somebody or take them out of context is just plain mean. It's the way opinions are expressed that makes all the difference. Actually, she treats her fans as friends, which sets her apart from many artists. Those who are here not just for her music think of her as a friend. How is she our friend? Friends hangs out together, share their secret .... OpusDiaboli666 199
I would share all my secrets with her so to me she already is a friend even though I haven't met her. And I care more about her happiness than her music and that's what makes me a friend to her even though we don't hang out all the time.
Ronk 14,762
How is she our friend? Friends hangs out together, share their secret .... Yes, that is one level of friendship. But there are other aspects of friendship that Gaga can and does do worldwide. She looks out for us and cares about us and shows it in many ways. She helps the LGBT community and victims of bullying and people otherwise with low self esteem by being a advocate and standing up for us in many situations and by charitable work like the BTW Foundation. She uses her reach to support us. She tries to better our lives in other ways, like fostering art and creativity in her fans. She teaches us to be kind, caring, positive, tolerant, and compassionate people and leads us by her own example. She tries her hardest to give us what we want, even when her management and label disallow it, even at her own expense. Artists generally thank their fans and say they wouldn't be there without them. That's financial. But Gaga is so much more than an artist, and that makes her very special. Gaga's has a deep connection with her fan base on an emotional basis. You can hear it in her words and see it in her actions. That's friendship. I'm sure others can add to this list. I live outside the space time continuum. Ronk 14,762
In my previous post I mentioned things Gaga does as our friend. I forgot about what fans do as her friend. Some fans buy many more albums than they can ever use, not to support her financially, but in the hopes that charts positions and awards may bring her some happiness. Some fans tell people about Gaga's good deeds and how she spreads kindness, to change hearts and minds of people who did not know these things. Only friends would go out of their way to do these things. So much fan art is all about Gaga the person, and were produced with the hope that Gaga would see this love and be happy. Some were entered as part of projects that were handed to Gaga. These are some of many examples … be ready to be deeply moved: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pirrrrziuWAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2_q14Soiy8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6tCB4G1TiA I live outside the space time continuum. Shadow 6,625
Honestly, we don't know how we make Gaga feel. Only she knows for sure. However, what we can do is think about how we would feel if we were in her shoes (or heels) and we might get an idea of how it would feel to receive love and support from her fans aka little monsters or to be saddened by the cruel words by those who claim to follow her as a fan. Sometimes a little introspection would aid in questions like these. Do your own research.
Diamond Heart 4,400
Im gonna guess sad most of the time considering most people in the fanbase moan about every little thing she does, and she tries so hard to please all of us but she cant. However, im also guessing theres moments she has with fans that completely brighten her mood and make her feel better :) "GGD IS NOT FOR YOU" - Admin
MonsterMum 2,532
Shes obviously seen negativity on this site since she stopped visiting. It's like seeing your friends talk about you behind your back except she can see all of it. Jees when you put it that way it sounds even more horrible then the OP
Ronk 14,762
What a lovely post! :) Those three links are to very emotionally moving videos about Gaga. I will add one of my own videos here, because it starts with brief images of 8 of Gaga's charitable acts, even though they only scratch the surface of all the good Gaga does in the world. The public has no idea Gaga is so committed to helping people because she doesn't tout it, she doesn't use it to improve her image. Muhammad Ali, another wonderful person, said this: "I try not to speak about all the charities and people I help, because I believe we can only be truly generous when we expect nothing in return.†Because Gaga doesn't talk about her good deeds, I believe it is up to her fans to spread the word and change hearts and minds of the public. Gaga tries to teach her fans to be kind, and by doing so she is performing an act of kindness herself ... making us better people.
