I LOVE when she keeps saying that she has nothing to do with the other pop girls. Because it is exactly the truth.

Exactly, especially with those 3.

She can sing and put on a great live show.

“I’m not a feminist. I hail men, I love men, I celebrate American male culture"

She's always been feminist, she was just saying in those early interviews she didn't identify with feminism that vilifies men. There is no conflict between what you posted and what she says in this interview. Se wants all to have equal power.

I don't see why this statement doesn't make sense. She's saying she's not going to put herself beneath them. Relegate. Essentially, just because they are 'marketing plans' to churn out hit singles, she isn't going to allow her self to be ranked beneath.

perfectly fine statement and not that hostile-- only hostile if you oversensitize it.

But she said, "relegate myself to them" (Put myself to a lower position to [be compared to] them)

Drama daily. Find something Gaga says, think of the worst interpretation, multiply by ten.

her support for the musical sisterhood, though, only goes far. Ask her about any kinship with seeming peers such as Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, and her reply is distinctly cool. “I don’t think that I have anything to do with any of the artists that you just mentioned. I don’t mean that in a mean-intentioned way. However, I take a lot of pride in my musicianship and in the integrity behind my work. And I wish for, in the future, especially with this Tony Bennett album, for people to really see that I am much more than what has now become perceived as a marketing plan.

ooh gaga is shading the rest of the girls considering herself superior? like eeerm what Madonna did to her and she keeps complaining? too bad she doesn't have the power that Madonna does in the industry so her words cant do what Madonna s words did to her :)

:legend:

I love her interviews. I love the comment that sets her aside from her contemporaries. She does have nothing to do with them - they're just prominent figures within their industries.

Love the interview. :flutter:

I'm a feminist and I'm glad she's discussed feminism in a more accurate and fitting way than back in 2009. Growth of an artists is beautiful. :sara:

I love how she sets herself a side from the other pop girls. It makes her Gaga. :flutter:

And the cherry on the top for me was talking about TayGa. I mean, she talks SO much about Tony, I just miss when she mentions Taylor. My OTP. :shy:

Ugh. Why can't she go back to her old views on feminism? Only thing I miss about the fame era her (other than, you know, having hit singles)

you mean when she was like "i'm not a feminist cuz i like men"?????

that's just dumb.  she was young and ignorant IMO.

You don't know what feminism is.

Sure. There are many feminists who are radical and hateful, but they in no way define feminism. Feminism is not called "equalitism" or any other stupid word because it is focused on WOMEN'S ISSUES. There have been many notable feminists who've successfully argued that feminism includes "men's liberation", as men are also negatively affected by some of the same gender roles and s-xism that affect women. That being said, the movement is still focused on women's rights. So feminism isn't just about equality - it's about directly and actively diminishing misogyny in our society until we get to the point where woman are:

(off the top of my head)

- equally represented in government

- paid equally

- not raped every 6 minutes

- able to walk home alone at night without anticipating terror

- allowed to make decisions regarding their own bodies

- not verbally threatened for refusing s-xual advances

- not forced into marriage every 2 minutes

- not forced into prostitution

- judged on their abilities and not their looks

On the same scale, are these issues interchangeable with men's issues? I think not. Equality is the central theme in feminism but these are women's issues and they are rightfully labeled as such. Hence the name: feminism.

I haven't even mentioned honor killings, FGM, child brides, infanticide or disfigurment yet, have I?

P.S. I wouldn't call Maya Angelou a "stuck up sjw who thinks feminism means equality" outloud infront of anyone. They're going to assume you're either a terrible person or completely ignorant or both. I'm honestly embarassed for you.

Thank you for your explanation of feminism. I am a feminist. I know many others. We are not the negative stereotypes many have claimed we are. We don't hate men or wish to subjugate others. We just want to be recognized as human beings capable of rational thought and government of our own lives.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

She should've been stronger than this. Everybody knows that she's different from pop girls and that she's definitely not a marketing plan but saying it like that makes it look like she released C2C to prove all that when she actually has nothing to prove. She could do better imo.

And one fan whose love she feels above all others is that of Kinney. He’s an actor who appeared in Zero Dark Thirty and stars in US TV drama Chicago Fire, and with whom Gaga recently held a small “commitment ceremonyâ€, apparently as a prelude to getting married next year. Where previously she was ultra-discreet about her relationship status, Gaga now mentions her boyfriend readily. “Neither of us care to be viewed as a celebrity couple,†she says airily. “Those sorts of things are not important to us.

So this was true?
