Mr Judas 4,106
It isn't precisely a worldwide "average." Neither is it #6 in total worldwide iTunes sales. This chart actually places countries into weighted categories based on the size of their music markets and then assigns an arbitrary number of points for chart positions in all countries in each weight-class. So, it is a useful metric that does indicate success, but it isn't really an average chart position. ahan! I get it ! So it just gives us an average of the world wide popularitypopularity ? pie-kun 1,765
I would say just let it go. It's the theme song to a documentary, no one is expecting it to become a hit and I doubt the record label is even pushing stations to play it. If you want to focus energy on something, I'd say do it on the video. It seems to be going viral (at least for the time being) and that's good not only for the song's chart positions but it also gets good PR and buzz going for Gaga as she goes into her major acting debut next month. pdaines 209
Guys, should we request it and try to get some airplay? Or just let it go ? I'm not sure yet. I think it could be strong on adult contemporary, but it isn't really a pop song? I don't know if it is going to be pushed to radio...

This chart actually places countries into weighted categories based on the size of their music markets and then assigns an arbitrary number of points for chart positions in all countries in each weight-class. So, it is a useful metric that does indicate success, but it isn't really an average chart position. It tends to overemphasize very small music markets and music markets that are relatively small for their class, and it underemphasizes markets like the US that are much larger than other markets in their classes. Most of all, this metric differentiates truly global artists from artists that are just popular in maybe one major music market, but who don't chart at all in most countries. Lady Gaga is truly global. Would you consider it a global popularity chart and not a global sales chart?
