I think it's just hype because they know Gaga brings viewers, and then it'll be something as simple as a Sound of Music tribute :emma:

Adele's "Skyfall," which earned her and co-writer Paul Epworth the Oscar for best original song, sees a 56% gain in sales for the week ending Feb. 24 according to Nielsen SoundScan. The tune sold 56,000 downloads -- up from 36,000 the week previous.

The song has now sold 1.6 million in the U.S. It's the first song from a James Bond film to win an Academy Award. "Skyfall" is expected to rise on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, from No. 83, when the chart is released tomorrow (Feb. 28).

Dame Shirley Bassey, who performed the Bond song "Goldfinger" during a tribute to the film series, also posts a gain. Her rendition of the tune gains by 310% to sell 1,000 downloads for the week. Bassey likely profited a bit more from the social exposure she earned from the show. On the day of the Oscars, according to Topsy a--lytics, Bassey was mentioned 36,000 times on Twitter -- up from just 150 mentions a day earlier.

Traffic to Bassey's Wikipedia page also soared by 30% on Feb. 24, receiving 6,600 views.

Another performer on the show was Barbra Streisand, who sang her 1974 No. 1 Hot 100 hit "The Way We Were" during a tribute to the late Marvin Hamlisch. The composer, who died last August, won one of his three Oscars for co-writing "The Way We Were" (with Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman).

Sales of "The Way We Were" gained by 209%, selling 2,000 downloads for the week.

The Oscars also featured a multi-act celebration of recent movie musicals. Two previous Oscar winners performed signature songs from their respective musical films: Jennifer Hudson did "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from "Dreamgirls" while Catherine Zeta-Jones performed "All That Jazz" from "Chicago." Hudson's song is up by 246%, as it sold a little over 1,000 for the week. Zeta-Jones' "Jazz" sold a negligible figure, though it did gain.

Rounding out the musicals tribute was the cast of "Les Miserables," which sang a medley that featured "Suddenly" and "One Day More" (and a bit of "I Dreamed a Dream" too.)

"I Dreamed a Dream," by Anne Hathaway, also received exposure during the show when Hathaway won the Oscar for best supporting actress. In turn, the song tallies a 70% sales gain, shifting 8,000 for the week. Of all the songs performed on the show, it was the second-biggest seller of the week after Adele's "Skyfall."

"Les Miserables'" "One Day More" and "Suddenly" also posted gains, though they sold quite a bit less. "Suddenly" was up by 239%, though it only moved 1,000 downloads. "One Day More" did better, moving 5,000 with a 137% increase.

The "Les Miserables" soundtrack album, however, drops in sales. It fell by 19% this week, shifting 14,000. Sales of the "Dreamgirls" and "Chicago" albums gained by 162% and 23%, respectively, though they still sold under 1,000 each.

Mychael Danna's "Life of Pi" score album, which earned him the Oscar for best original score, gains by 230% for the week to sell 1,000 copies -- its best sales week yet.
