No hit singles, no overblown promotion, an album of jazz covers...yet it still goes to #1. I've seen artists who actually had a hit single preceding their album release and has huge promo not debut as well as this. Outselling Kenny Chesney, who has 7 #1 albums in the US as well as being a country act, a genre for whom fans are extremely loyal, is a real coup. To think there was just 1,000 copies in it and those last minute 2,000 signed copies was literally what saved it. This is what Gaga needed to give her great exposure in America again and this also means that she could be primed for Grammy nominations. Hopefully, this is the beginning of Gaga's comeback. Her management have got the right idea so far, now we just have to hope it gets better with her mainstream studio releases. Now that more people are aware that the album exists and is good, there's hope it could experience a good second week and pick up again on the run-up to Christmas. Columbis records must be having a right old celebration right now. Every album in the top three has some sort of affiliation with their label.
