Bye 3,947
I love pop music (Gaga's especially) and still agree with him. Compared to other genres I think it's ****.

COLONiCPRiNXESS 1
Have to say I kind of agree though in regards to ARTPOP album + era. Definitely not the best "quality" that Gaga can bring right there :gum:
HeavyPunkLover 2,120
I still don't see the pop vs jazz thing. "Just because you know my name, doesn't mean you know my game"
Rollercoaster 2
Pop music isn't really music, it's hypnosis. "hooks" and really only seen in pop music or pop influenced music, and their main aim is to trick the mind into remembering and repeating so much so that you end up having to know the song. It's kinda creepy.
XoXoJoanneGaga 629
This is true though, in a slightly different way than he meant it. Cheek to Cheek is a big step up from ARTPOP and by working with her and reinvigorating her, he's setting her on a path to make better music in the future. pachinko 10,414
Let's face it. Gaga can be messy. ;-) Have to say I kind of agree though in regards to ARTPOP album + era. Definitely not the best "quality" that Gaga can bring right there
Gypsy Life 118,907
The guy is from the 1920s. It's very normal, expected and known what he sees as "quality" work.
brizoda 3,857
Why are y'all taking your torches and pitchforks out just now? He's been saying arrogant stuff like this forever. you're right the most dificult thing to do is a simple thing like pop, not the other way
Raikou 1,169
Guys... Seriously? You can't expect an 88 year old to think songs like Aura and Sexxx Dreams are quality. Chill. I will when I'm 88.
djBuffoon 12,123
I wonder if Gaga would have chimed in and clarified what he meant, had she been there. She's had to do that a couple of times when they discussed the album together. Have to say I kind of agree though in regards to ARTPOP album + era. Definitely not the best "quality" that Gaga can bring right there The era, sure. The album is very solid.
monketsharona 81,827
what he doesn't understand is she's still the Queen of creativity. No shade here but even if I LOVE Cheek to Cheek, there's no doubt it's her less creative album ever. That's a very good project ! But I want her next album to be full of new Gaga songs (whatever their type). I'm not here for another jazz covers album. Again I respect Tony a lot and I love CtC, but sorry Tony I don't want her to be trapped in this kind of project. Though a CtC 2.0 later on is not a problem to me :) + That's quite strange to say that while he has intended to Gaga's shows many times before... Shadow 6,632
Gaga will gain more respect for a singing style that has no support from technology. No one will be able to deny her abilities, other than judging her talent alone. I think Tony wants to showcase this more than people are implying that he was disregarding her past work. She proved to be a great pop star before risking her brand in other directions, now she'll risk to show the world why she's a great musician and singer. Do your own research. GagaMyBlood95 9,915
Oh man, this thread's gonna get messy. Let me just say that our perception of quality is probably much, much different to that of an 88 year old jazz legend. And he definitely encouraged her to be her best. Nicely said
