HANZ 4,380
this thread, this topic, religion vs science, etc all of that is so...... controversial In my personal opinion, i dont believe in god, but i kinda believe there is something, some sort of higher power ? i dont really know lol I mean i already thought someone like Stephen Hawking wouldnt believe in god, so its not really surprising is it ? Not to me anyway. Its just his opinion. For the people that follow a religion, hes just saying he doesnt believe in it and theres nothing wrong with stating his opinion about it. this My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

HauntingHollow 4,310
The thing is: we know nothing ! How can you claim there is any god or anything with such certainty ? How can you say there is none with such certainty ? I could believe that there is something greater, but it is not Jesus or stupid things like that and we will probably never learn the truth ! So to be honest, i think that religion is really stupid ( unless you are weak-minded ) but i also think that atheism is kinda stupid cuz you never know ! YOU NEVER KNOW ! ................ You can not hide if nobody pays attention to you :*
Rollercoaster 2
The fact that we've tried and tried to find a higher power and come up time and time again with **** all is, in itself, a kind of proof... well, not proof, but it stretches beyond 'belief' and into reasonable doubt. It can't ever be proven, because the universe is too big, but all signs point to no.
Rollercoaster 2
Can't understand why people have to be insulting and disrespectful to each in this thread. This is a very serious question which is personal for many people. Could somebody please answer the question (I am asking just out of curiosity because I think am not very educated in the subject): is there a universal, indisputable scientific theory which describes all the aspects of the reality? Which describes how did the reality started and perfectly explains all the existence? I thought of the Big Bang Theory primarily, but I know there are numerous difficulties there which prevent it from being established as the acclaimed one. Apart from the equations and metric paradoxes, its biggest gap is that: how did the singularity point come to the existence? Why did it all of a sudden decide to explode? Besides, the model of Big Bang does not start from exactly the Big Bang , it starts from the moment which is infinitely close to it, but still not from the Bang itself. The time span from the Big Bang till 10^(-43) sec is still beyond the mathematical equation reconstruction and modelling, and is labeled as Max Planck period, in the homage of the great German physicist. So it is natural that unless some scientific theory, The Big Bang Theory, The Strings Theory or any other kind of theory would be able to present indisputable knowledge for its assessments, people would continue to argue about the nature of the reality. And honestly, if there is no scientific theory which is able to describe everything and give valid arguments, then how could GGD users do it? The same goes to all the advocates of the "religious" (I do not intend to offend anyone, I love you all so much) theories: all the arguments seem to be invalid since there are dozens if not hundreds and thousands religions and conceptions, and no one has proved to be the only one which is right The problem with this is that you would first have to think of a measurement of 'time' that isn't time itself. "time" is a man-made measuring device that doesn't actually exist. That's not the way it works in terms of measuring when the big bang would've happened. Time, like god, isn't real. Before there was a planet orbiting the sun - there were no days or nights. Which brings me to my next point - how does one create things on various days of the week when days and nights don't exist? :/

As you said, men use measurements to help grasp and understand our three dimensional existence. Perhaps, god is mankind's way of measuring creation (or the circumstances that fell in such a way to make our possibility a reality) as we understand and create things, but is ultimately a metaphor for the forces that apply physical laws to increase the chances of our existence (in my observation appears to be an endless cycle of energy expanding and contracting hence why I think the Big Bang was one reaction of many if we follow the pattern in nature and by the thermodynamic law that states that matter cannot be created or destroyed, but just transforms, thus transferring energy) If I drop a stack of cards, the chances of making a house of cards is rare, but it is a possibilty. By us arriving at the possibility whether in random circumstance or purpose, we were destined to exist either way. If time was a river, it would always flow one direction and only so many factors could divert that direction with great difficulty, but the water will keep flowing and end up somewhere whether observed or not. If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, it will simply exhibit the energy observed as it operates in nature. Stand in the light, cast your shadow. I believe that time is better expressed as a continuous series of 'moments'. Each an event that triggers another. Not a linear 'time' as man would suggest.
