FragileLamplite 0
Oh, wow, a prominent scientist is an atheist. How shocking. News flash, so are 99% of all scientists. Some people have different ( and more educated) opinions than you and your bronze age fairy tales. Get over it.

FragileLamplite 0
I do not like how he phrased that. I do not believe that any god exists either; however, you cannot prove the existence or nonexistence of a god. If someone were to ask you if God exists, the best answer that you could give is that you do not know. If you don't believe in god, I don't see the problem with just saying that outright. I'm sick other atheists trying to dance around their atheism by means of this sort of language. If you truly don't know, that's another thing, but if you reject religion, I don't see the point in protecting the feelings of the religious. If they can't handle criticism they shouldn't hold such flimsy beliefs.
Shadow 6,697
Maybe you were just making a generalization, but I don't think something as complicated as the thoughts and emotions behind religion and science and how they impact peoples world/life views can be reduced to two categories. I think the edges have definitely been blurred through time. The generalizations were meant to convey the distinction between those that agree with Hawkin's view and those that don't. Of course, people come from many different walks in life and come at this issue from different angles, but for the sake of simplicity, I was focusing on his statement with either God-->universe-->miracle or Big Bang -->universe --> probability and chance. But you are correct, nothing in this life is black or white. Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

Gov Hooka 8,008
People are so obssesed with atheists smh If someone famous says "God is real" everyone's like meh But the minute a public figure says "There is no god" suddenly everyone flips their ****. Stephen Hawking knows absolutely NOTHING. the Pope knows absolutely NOTHING, and whatever they, or anyone, may think about God or religion, is an opinion. And that is the absolute, inescapable truth. #fact :TROOTEA:

ByeBye49 161
I don't even know what to believe anymore. A lot of religion doesn't make sense, but I REALLY don't want to go to hell just in case it's real.

Psychedelic 1,098
If I were him, I'd have enough reasons to dislke a supreme being that intelligently and conciously programs this universe, and choose not to believe in him!
homomo 23,883
I don't know if I believe in God or not. But I'm not an atheist. To be honest, I'm lost where I even fit in with the whole religion thing. I let people believe in what they want, but if they force me to believe something, then I might have a problem. 0110100001100101011011000110110001101111
