Gaga: "My integrity as a musician is more important to me than money"

Do something about what?  That's the way big business runs. Some items cost more than other items. There are options for a wide range of income levels. Record labels are big business, so they are going to have options available for people at different income levels. Sorry that you can't afford a box set, but there are some people who can and who like to spend their money on collector items. There is nothing Gaga should "do about this". :smh:

Maybe one day you won't be and then you will appreciate that you have more options. :)

It doesn't matter what her intention was. The point is that she is completely out of touch with reality. Contrasting herself against other popstars with a victim narrative? She has experienced all the same advantages as the other girls. Her shortcomings and failures as an artist are her own. She operates under the same system as the rest of them.

Where did she contrast herself against other popstars as a victim? What does that have to do with what you said before about her less advantaged fans?

*Her speaking about Tel Aviv is a lot more interesting then her making a statement about favoring art instead of money (which she stated only a million times already).

Not saying "Pain of Fame" will be the name of the next album but that is kind of how she said "ARTPOP" in a BTW interview. Plus that seems to be where her headspace has been. I kinda want her to move away from the fame theme though. I love it, but I rather see a new/ different side

I pray she doesn't go the fame route again.  If she does, it won't go over well.  I think people are tired of her fame focus and won't be down for more music on fame and a pop star.  I agree with you, bring on other sides to Gaga's songwriting.

my integrity as a musician is more important to me than money, so that's why i'm releasing my new fragrance called eau de gaga that i never would have been able to release if i weren't a musician.

you tell me. i didn't say that.

so you are just inpunging her general integrity, verses her integrity as a musician?

Your fragerance says otherwise.

I have to say it, but slapping your name that represents you as a musician/singer/songwriter on a fragrance, and a second fragrance at that, seems to be jumping the shark when beating your drums about her art, not money, is important to her.  She wants to be seen separate from the pop girls of the world and be recognized more for her vision and avant-garde contibtution to pop music, but like we would ever have seen Bowie  or Dylan or Queen slapping their name on something right in the midst of their relevancy and impact on music culture and their heyday.

I hated that she put Gaga on the name of a perfume.  I consider her so talented and hate to see the name "Gaga" being used to sell something other than music.

In all honesty, I didn't like the name Fame used.  Fame is an album and should stand for something in her history as an artist blazing onto the music scene and not piggybacked onto with a fragrance.  I wish she would name her fragrances, if she has to sell them, something other than associated with her music.

Others see it differently.  It's just my opinion and won't change.  I elevate her higher than the average pop girl schilling their perfumes.  The first one I accepted and grew used to the fact that she named it Fame and at least thought she had an amazing campaign.  Another one coming out and then naming it Eau de Gaga just cheapens her message of I'm a serious artist, focused on my music, not money.  Her name stands for something and it shouldn't be slapped onto a perfume.

AP: U2 released its new album alongside Apple, and Jay Z and Beyonce also released recent albums in unconventional ways. What do you think about that and do you think of innovative ways to release music when readying a project?

Gaga: I think honestly what we need to be doing, and this is my opinion, is instead of trying to find ways to trick the world into focusing on the album for a brief moment, I think that artists need to speak more about how media treats the artists and making the distinction between the celebrity and the artist, because everything is all in one pool now isn't it? We're all the same and they're some pretty terrible celebrities out there, let's be honest, right? People famous for no reason. So, I think the more the media can help us to support the artist and support music in a way that's maybe less critical for journalists that are not as knowledgeable about music and help to just spread the music and see the music as gift to the world.

I really believe that once the press becomes more kind I think a lot of the things in the universe are going to change. It makes me scared when I hear that there's pro-ISIS (Islamic State in Syria) rallies in America because I think that social media has created this sort of negative undertone in the universe. People feel that they can say or do anything; it makes them feel a sort of comfort when really it's just giving hatred a petri dish to fester. I know that was sort of a random answer for a question about album marketing. I really believe it lies in the hearts in the people that are writing about the music. The more we honour and support the artist, the more the art will live on forever. Otherwise, it's going to continue to be what I think pop music is now, which is sort of this giant tabloid. It's become quite trashy in my opinion

This is absolutely beautiful. I love her
