Quark 7,098
Morphine, do you want me to be honest so that I can be dragged by people here again? Some pll here rly seem to live in denial since they react so strongly to any words of criticism about their idol, it's jusy insane. I don't know her intentions, nobody does, but I believe that one was to get the critics back in the simplest and safest way possible so that they don't trash her next pop effort like they trashed ARTPOP. While this review may be biased, it does make some good points. Tony asked her to do the album, Gaga just accepted. Where is your logic?
Haunts 7
What I find most sad about this is that many critics are unable to critique objectively, which defeats the entire purpose of their job. If the first thing you write in your article is about how the artist is supposedly fading and desperate for some relevance, then you're critiquing the artist, and not the music. In order to properly judge a piece of music, a critic should remove their own personal feelings on the artist and focus on the music as if they were listening to it without knowing who was singing, as if they were blind to everything but the music. So I hereby give this review an overall rating of 1/10. #CritiquingTheCritic I completely agree with everything you said. It's very sad, everything is a popularity contest now. Shadow 6,625
The Hate for gaga is real omg, what a biased review, he's not even reviewing the piece of work, he's being judgemental towrds Gaga's intententions with this album, that's why he's being so negative... probably a madonna fan who can Handle the fact that Gaga can sing circles around his idol Alexa Camp is a her. Looks like she was quick to shoot Gaga down... Why do critics like this always come off unpleasant and b---hy to be around? :wtf: Do your own research. It wouldn't let me cut and paste before, but I just tried it and it did. "Tony Bennett and Lady GagaPop Lady Gaga lives to rile, but her decision to drop everything to make a straightforward album of jazz standards from the Great American Songbook with Tony Bennett is even more baffling than the time she covered herself with vomit at South by Southwest. Having first partnered up on a cover of “The Lady Is a Tramp†for Bennett’s 2011 “Duets II†album, “Cheek to Cheek†offers more of the odd couple’s takes on relics such as “Anything Goes†and “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing).†What’s most disappointing about the album is how tame it sounds as Gaga, 28, reverts to her undistinguished cabaret days, while Bennett, 88, simply coasts in easy-listening mode. Rather than highlight each other’s wildly distinguishing features, they merely settle on a quiet night at the local jazz club, where the background music is far more exciting than the people singing over it." Nemo 4,291
Stopped reading at "Past-prime pop singer". Asshole. But, surely this isn't the first "review"? I've been reading a lot of published praise from people who've heard it. None of that "counts"? :noparty:
