Meghan Trainor: "I tried to go anorexic for three hours"

"I wasn't strong enough to have an eating disorder"

please do not associate eating disorders with any positive connotations for the love of god

also "i tried to go anorexic" implies that an eating disorder is like a diet or something not a mental health issue that you can't just turn on and off

This girl is vile.

Please explain why she's "vile".

Y'all are so quick to judge new people. Could you get anymore pressed? :awkney:

Maybe because it's not really a body-positive song, but actually yet another degrading song about how women are only here to impress men and that "skinny b---hes" aren't worthy of them?

Yeah, it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two

But I can shake it, shake it

Like I'm supposed to do

'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase

And all the right junk in all the right places

She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold tonight."

Some people are born thinner and we should accept ALL types of bodies (except overweight and underweight because it's not healthy) without glamorizing a certain body type and trying to mould people in what we want them to look like. **** this stupid little b---h. I hope she fades into irrelevance and becomes another one hit wonder hoe.

People do the same to Gaga. They find a comment that could be seen as shady or negative, then start a thread about it, and half the people who comment don't read the whole interview.

Notice when she mentions boys in the video it's contrasted with fashion mags in the background. The point is that boys have more easy-going standards than those of the fashion industry (run by women and gays).

It's not that anyone is gonna gain weight to impress boys, it's that you don't need to feel ugly and uns-xy just because you don't meet Vogue's standards.

She's not saying it's bad to be skinny, though..... :awkney:

Calling skinny "b---hes" and joking about anorexia isn't saying it's bad to be skinny? K.

Women call other women "b---hes" all the time. A lot of the time it's not even used as an insult. Even if it is an insult she says "skinny BITCHES", she might mean the one's that are shallow and make fun of heavier people.

I understand this, yet that doesn't explain most of the other lines that I find are REALLY awful. It's not like she's empowering big girls especially when she says "in all the right places". More like she's promoting an hourglass figure and whatever. Does anyone ever think how striving for this glamorized hourglass figure can effect ones health? And anyway, what you said also doesn't explain how she thinks that as a woman she needs to "shake it" for men.

True, but the line is "I'm bringing booty back, go tell all them skinny b---hes that" further bringing down skinny girls and boasting about her body size that impresses men. Even if she's talking about shallow girls, this song is quite b---hy and shallow.

Oh, and idc if the next line is "No, I'm just playing".

Saying it's okay to have some extra weight. I think also she might be saying that boys like that to make heavier girls feel better.

I see the magazine workin' that Photoshop

We know that **** ain't real

C'mon now, make it stop

If you got beauty building, just raise 'em up

'Cause every inch of you is perfect

From the bottom to the top

Saying that you're perfect the way you are and Photoshop is fake.

Yeah, my mama she told me don't worry about your size

She says, "Boys like a little more booty to hold tonight."

You know I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie doll

So if that's what you're into then go ahead and move along

Again, maybe trying to make heavier girls feel better by saying guys like a larger bum, and saying that if you want somebody plastic and fake to go away because she's not.

I'm bringing booty back

Go ahead and tell them skinny b---hes that

No I'm just playing. I know you think you're fat

But I'm here to tell ya

Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top

I guess she's saying a big butt isn't bad. I don't think she's using b---hes in a mean way here. Again, she's saying you're perfect the way you are.

My points remain strong and relevant. She's not made a song about self-acceptance, but more about what impresses men.
