The Problem with the ARTPOP hatred was not because the album was bad |(cuz it was f.king good)

 

It was because the media and GP failed to realise what Gaga meant by ARTPOP....everyone thought that she become some high-class theatrical snob that thinks she is too god for anyone else .... and will ART talk Marina Something methods ... sculptures of  herself etc.etc. 

 

And when I think about it I just get so much angry for GP's stupidity BECAUSE in reality Gaga was doing ARTPOP since 2008 she even was talking in old interviews frm 2009 about artop and during the ARTPOP she said that she was always doing ARTPOP it was just now that she realises that.

 

There was really good fan made documentary about TF + TFM by GGD user here go watch it and u'll see what I'm talking about lterally it's like seeing the 2013 Gaga trapped in 2008/09 she was talking about Andy Warhol and how she wants to inspire young people to be creative that's why she wears clothes by new designers and promotes them etc.etc.

 

That made me realise that ARTPOP is like expedition of her past albums/fashion/art etc. Cuz we see a little bit of TF in it a little bit TFM in it, pinch of BTW in it and the whole album is ARTPOP....if only people realised that .....

So, Gaga just picked a name she had already used several times. ARTPOP is like a collection of Gaga's ideas since the start of her career. Fame, love, fears, s-x, fashion, dance, expression... Her best album imo.

BTW was released after the mega successfull TF and TFM. It was essential that it would sell well, but I don't think that this is her best work. It was strange in a way, and not meant for everyone. The single choices was so poor that it could have sold millions more if, for example, hair was a single.  TEOG peaked at #3 becaise it was part of some itunes countdown. BTW was a hit, of course. Judas could have flopped easily but the video saved things. You and I was the only hit song, after BTW, from the album. It stayed on the hot 100 for weeks after. Marry The Night flopped so hard, while having the best video of all time. 

My opinion seems messy, but to sum up..

The last 3 singles from BTW are not VEVO certified, and I know that some of you may say that this doesn't matter, but it is one of the most important factors on a song's popularity. The singles peaked at top 10 but didn't stay for more than 2 weeks (besides BTW and You and I).The last 3 singles were not popular. That's where ARTPOP flopped, plus the 2 years wait. If she had released one more hit single before Applause, it would have sold around 325 000 in its first week. If she had released a video for DWUW, it would have sold much more overall. If she hadn't waited so long for G.U.Y, it wouldn't have flopped. 

People nowadays remember Lady Gaga from Poker face, Bad Romance and Alejandro. That's when she was MEGA famous. She is still famous, but things are not the same.

ARTPOP most definitely was affected because of Born This Way. A lot of people grew tired of Gaga's image and "publicity schemes" through that era. I think ARTPOP would've been more successful had it followed the success of The Fame Monster, but I still think it would've fallen short. You can't forget that bad management either.

 

It also comes down to EDM not being as popular as it was five years ago. Music has evolved and Gaga will have to as well. Since she has shown a love for jazz music, I wish her next album would infuse pop and jazz, a la Christina's Back to Basics. I think that sort of album would be immensely popular today and that Gaga would pull it off perfectly.

True. If she doesn't want her next album to flop, she should make up some betrayals though, ARTPOP flopped because half of the things planned out didn't happen. We're still waiting for TEA, Ratchet...

I agree, in 2011 Gaga has been so much overexposed, that's why Marry The Night flopped, even tho ARTPOP came out after a long pause, maybe it wasn't long enough... That's the same thing that happened for Beyoncè in 2009/2010/2011, during the release of I Am... Sasha Fierce queen b has been so over exposed, everysong she was releasing as a single was going to be a hit (Halo, Sweet Dreams, Single Ladies, Video Phone, also Telephone became a hit) and then she released "4" in 2011 and even tho is a really good album, it flopped cuz people got a little tired of her. She made the right thing in december 2013 and she released"BEYONCE" in the most shocking way she could, with no promo before the release, with this new concept of a visual album and with some cool new sound. That's wath I hope will happne with Gaga. With Born This Way she got over exposed, with ARTPOP she flopped a little (there's a lot of reasons for the ARTPOP flop tbh, menagement mess,exc.) and now she's keeping a low profile with Cheek To Cheek just letting peopleknow she is way more talented than many popstars outhere nowadays, she will keep a low profile during 2015 with the c2c tour and she will probably use the first half of 2016 to finish her next album. Her come back in mid 2016 will be HUGE, trust me.

TBQFH ARTPOP flopped because of itself. I'm not saying ARTPOP sucks cause it doesn't. If your music is "good enough" for the gp, no matter what happened before that album it will be a success. Although I must admit that if management was on point it would've performed better, but still not as good as her past three albums. It just didn't have that thing that will make it a big hit. BTW had hit singles due to it being released after TFM and TEOG is a bop. Had ARTPOP been released after TFM, I think it would've been tragic. ARTPOP is an evolution of the electronic sound of her first two releases but is way inferior in terms of deliverig hits unlike BTW which sounds like nothing she had ever released.
