Do you think Madonna not being a fan hurt Gaga?

Money money money.

If she was an investment banker, maybe I'd be more inclined to agree with you.

Do you realize she made all that money from millions of people who attended her concert and royalties... Daaaaaaaaaaah!

I really hope your faves' careers are as 'dead' as Madonna's in 30 years... now you can seethe!

The only reason Madonna is still selling is because Michael Jackson died. People want to say "I went to see Madonna....." when she dies. She is a living legend. I dont even like her and I recognize that.

That is the silliest thing I've ever heard!

Madonna's most profitable tour was the S&S Tour 2008-09, before MJ die... take your non-sense elsewhere please!

I believe it was fake from both. They are under the same music label and thus both have to gain on promoting each other  for their owners.

However the parts of the fact that Madonna look at some of Gaga's music to be reductive is because she really believes so.

But it would be like Madonna being criticized when she made Express Yourself and its clearly message steal from the song Respect by Aretha Franklin.
So Madonna  is reductive in her opinion on Gaga being reductive
And the beat goes on...

She cared at first. But listen to howard stern ARTPOP interview. Best interview ever btw, she was asked about the situation and she was basically like "I think she hates the fact I'm not mad about it," and that honestly was the best answer she could give. Howard sterns interview is the only credible interview you could take from her about anything, apart from SXSW. Seriously, 2 hours of gaga being real and raw is awesome

Royalties make a career now? Millions of people attended her concert to listen to her past music.

Do you really think that's what an actual muscian would want? To have their current work forgotten the second it's released.

What a superficial measure of success, then again I don't think Madonna would want it any other way.

It could be... Because people say the "hate" started from Born This Way, but over a year after the release they had a fake fight on television, and that was planned by both of them... to make fun of the controversy (which GaGa herself said afterwards) so yeah.

And good point on the rest... The question for me is if the similarity was intended or not :P

MDNA sold almost just as much as ARTPOP, and it was her 12th studio album, not her 3rd one. Plus, I attended her concert and many people knew the new lyrics. You're just a hater, so you can continue to seethe.

If Madonna's career was actually dead and she was as irrelevant as you claim, you wouldn't even bother to comment about it. But you seem to care way to much by constantly coming back to try to prove yourself right... go ahead and make one more point on your favor with more non-sense, so you can really show how much you care!

ARTPOP made almost no impact. The fact that you have to compare MDNA's impact to ARTPOP's isn't a good thing...(still made more impact than MDNA with Applause though).

Madonna's fans knew Madonna's lyrics? That's something.

Why isn't it a good thing? It's a low point in the career of each, or would you like me to compare both artists' respective 3rd studio album to make it more equal? THAT wouldn't be a good thing imo!

You are right about Applause, but tell me something more, who knows the lyrics of Gaga's other new songs at the artRAVE if it's not her fans?

But thank you for coming back to show how much care for someone who's career is dead. I'ts not like there's been people like you, saying things like the ones you claim since 1984... yet Madonna is still here while others are long forgotten.

Besides someone whose career has died, doesn't go out on tour, doesn't continue to put records out and still manage to sell over 3 millions copies WW, they're not invited to perform at the superbowl, and they're not constantly discussed on internet forums for their current actions like you are doing now. For real man, you are making no sense!

Gaga obviously rubbed her wrong with the whole Born This Way/Express Yourself debacle. It was understandable that she give her opinion on it, but the concert performances were a bit much and probably a ploy to keep herself in the headlines. Gaga shouldn't take it to heart. Its freaking Madonna, she's built her entire legacy on being an opinionated, controversial biatch, not some mother theresa that kisses every bodies asses...

tbh I don't even see this much of connection btw BTE?EY ... I mean the song it just sounds like 80s disco inspired track with modern vibe .... the big deal came from all Gaga haters+ all madonna pressed fans. Today there are like ton of example of tracks (that some of them were even very big last year) that are total rip offs yet there is nothing big said about it

Gaga was just too big so everyone was trying to bring her down and that was the only thing they all could have drag to

I think it did hurt her personally.  She was very hurt about Born This Way (single).  Remember the interview where she said she needed a cigarette?  It was supposed to be a fun time and everyone immediately criticized it including M.

Link to that interview please?

I don't think Madonna hates Gaga or even dislikes her. She just saw the opportunity and took it, as she has done for over 30 years now. It's just the Madonna way of doing things.

The thing which did more harm than Madonna herself was the media/press/internet stanbases creating a whole "Gaga v. Madonna" out of it, and it escalated to something inescapable. It didn't help that Madonna brought it back up during her album promo/tour the year afterwards, but I expect she would've done the same if she had done the interviews/performances in 2011.

I do feel it hurt Gaga though. But I also feel that it was just the thing that Gaga had lots of things going on in her personal life that made it particularly poignant that one of her lifelong idols 'rejected' her (for a lack of better word), almost as if it was just that last chip that caused the crack.
