ALX 170
I'm pretty sure it's because they meant someone that wasn't a recording artist
Bradley 59,023
These teachers are fcking idiots. What's wrong with seeking attention when you're a performer? Really? After 6 years of her career people still don't get how awesome her music and performances are? Are they nuts? Cheap.

Goosey 3,017
You should have just said "Picasso" "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J. Trump
djBuffoon 12,118
Not people here trying to invalidate the work she's produced (or co-produced, as it were) in her career. When it comes to visuals, I can't think of many artists who produce videos that are entertaining, opulent, but also layers deep as far as subtext, cultural/artistic references, elements you wouldn't notice until the 20th viewing, and for just thinking outside of the box when it comes to translating any given song to a visual medium. FRANK1991 3,329
that's sad... my teachers are pretty ok with me doing Gaga related projects in college But Lady Gaga is too risky for an interview or something so important. What they want is NOT a pop artist. I mean there's got to be other artists you like other than Gaga. Don't open the subject of Gaga right away, tread the water first and see if it's the right place and time. One of my art class had an open discussion of Gaga and Jeff Koons and I know I can open up on the subject freely. Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone
sephyleader 3
Last semester I had a similar thing happen to me, I had signed up for Art History 101, I'm an art major and need certain amount of hours including 101 + 102 (already had 102). Anyways, I get to the class which was ba--l with the amount of people crammed into a lecture hall, the professor was a total ditz that wanted to explain all art as a star system (since the majority of people taking that class weren't really there as art majors) and she then went on to talk about how only art from Rome and ancient Greece could be considered "art" in her eyes and that she hated popular culture with a passion and how people lately thought they could all be artists without the "skill of the masters", already a bit delusional she then went on to specifically target "people like lady gaga for instance who feel that shock is art and that blubbering about art makes them artists". When the professor said that I was like "HELL NAH I AINT DEALING WITH THE DELUSIONAL SHADE BITCH, IM A FREE BITCH BABY" and so I left the lecture hall, saw the classroom next door was announcing "Art History 298: Colonial Mexico Art History" took that instead and it became the best class I took the entire semester, small intimate class, with amazing professor and amazing amount of research. To think I could have been miserable in a large lecture hall class taught by a gaga shader. Also in basically every other studio I've had the professors love gaga.... sooooooooo... Invalidate? omg... How about spilling some truth for ignorant? For pointing out the obvious? Because this whole topic is absolutely and utterly ridiculous! I have no idea why I can't just let ignorant fools be ignorant and deluted, but I guess I need to say this more blatantly. Compared to actual artists (don't even try the art is subjective crap) whether they'd be composers, painters, dancers, fashion designers etc., the ones that truly create something significant, Gaga is a talentless nobody! Doesn't matter how many millions she has or how famous she is, but her "art" is NOTHING compared to real artists, c'mon now people! Wake up! Making top40 four chord pop with help of others constitutes to pretty much nothing. She's not much of a composer or lyricist compared to Beethoven, Debussy or some actual poets and writers. And as for her visual aspects, she doesn't create those, others do. -_- I don't think there is anything more insulting to an artists than putting Gaga or any other pop star for that matter in the same category with them, my god -_-

LaLuna 12,732
I can't believe some of the replies here, calling us "deluded" because we consider Gaga as an artist. So let me see if I get this straight, just because Gaga is a pop star and chooses to express herself through music and visuals instead of painting and such, she's not a "real" artist??? Because she's not ****ing Picasso, she's not a real artist? Bitch please. An artist, by definition, is someone who practices any creative art, and guess what, that's what Gaga does. So don't give me that bull**** about her not being a "real" artist.
