Taylor Swift / Katy Perry 'feud' discussion (background + KP's reply?)

"but you don't want to stack Taylor's career up against Katy's, because KP will come out on the short end."

Katy is still WAY ahead in pop singles success. That obviously is what pressed LMs care about the most, because they are way more pressed about Katy slaying singles and radio, than Taylor's album and award success.

Well, obviously not all Gaga fans fall under this special LM category you've come up with. I am one that definitely doesn't! :)

Pop singles do not define a career...especially when talking about someone who, up until this upcoming album, was a Country/Pop crossover artist. Outside of her Pop/HAC radio play, Taylor has sent 17 songs to the Country top 10.

Taylor has sold 15 million more albums than Katy. Oh, but Katy has sold 6 million more digital single downloads.

Which do you think is better? 15 million more album sales or 6 million more single sales?

If you take it all together- albums, singles charting on all genres of music, nominations, awards, recognition from the Music Industry, critical reception, total gross of all tours, philanthropy, etc.- Taylor will come out on top.

You're right, Gaga's competitive stans should be more pressed and bothered by Taylor's achievements, but they seem to care more about pop radio singles success. Hence the Katy hate.

All those #1 singles are more in your face than millions of dollars from touring or made in a couple months when a new album drops.

she's moved on from writing about boys and now she writes multi-platium shade hits.

You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you.

To me I could care less about how many albums/singles have been sold and tend to judge these people by the quality of their music, their involvement in their art and how they treat other people, including fans. Who cares how many singles someone has sold if they are a dick?

Gaga's fans have nothing to do with the thread.

My post you originally referenced had to do with Katy and Taylor, and those are the two artists that this thread is about. My first comment was to someone who was trying to diminish the impact that Taylor has had or will have in the future (and btw, that person is not even a gaga fan...and definitely NOT "a pressed LM"), and it was information that showed that Taylor's last era did have several singles and entries into the BB top 30 and was also extremely successful on many other levels.

If you want to discuss "pressed LMs", start a new thread and I will contribute my thoughts on that subject in the appropriate thread. Otherwise, this subject is off-topic.

I was struck by how many people in this thread were declaring themselves Team Taylor - without any regards to the merits of the beef of whether Swift's Max Martin pop is better than Katy's - but simply out of spite and rivalry with Katy.

I do find it funny how you say "pressed stans", yet you're too pressed to admit that Katy has talent. :smh:

Your opinion is wrong though, but okay.

Well, the dancers themselves seemed to favor Katy due to their length in work together. Couldn't Taylor Swift's team get any great dancers in the business? Why not pick someone with no ties with competing artists?

Taylor seems to like playing the victim which helped her in the past, but I see no saint in her either.

Agreed.

The one who (further) publicised it first, and even went on to actually create a "diss" track, is nowhere near well-meant. Those dancers were with KP first, and their decision to go back for a couple of fair reasons (1. they worked with KP longer, hence they prefer her more; 2. they're dancers who clearly want to use their talent more) is more understandable and easier to be empathetic to than making this public and even use it, intentionally or not, for commercial purposes.

Anyway, I'm a fan of both and will remain as one. Because at the end of the day, it's their issue to solve, not mine. It just so happened that I'm feeling more empathetic towards KP with this one. That doesn't mean I'd stop listening to Taylor's music. The personal affairs of the celebrities I'm interested to barely affect my admiration to them. That's probably the reason I'm still a fan of the likes of MJ and Lindsay Lohan despite of all the bad things thrown against them. There's no such thing as a perfect individual. Even 'saints' made mistakes.

Any artist that collaborates with Dr. Luke & Max Martin is desperate. This isn't just for Taylor or Katy, it's for any pop artist. It's just a cheap route to a microwable hit.
