XoXoJoanneGaga 629
Well it is overrated the way all live shows are overrated. They always have lots of flaws that you have to overlook. But the Monster Ball was Gaga at her best. She had the most energy, the most passion, and the music was for the most part the best. The stage was incredibly detailed and the atmosphere was amazing. The costumes were truly avant-garde and stylish. It wasn't a perfect show but it's definitely the best of her tours so far.
gagaisitalian 3,573
Anyway I think that the best atmosphere was the dark atmosphere of TBTWB. Those images aren't showing up.
Interludicrous 15
Unlike a lot of people here, I feel like TMB had the superior stage. It was a perfect canvas for Gaga's theatricality and it displayed the choreographies beautifully. It was also very versatile, because they were able to transform it completely between acts. And it was focussed - your eyes never swayed from the most important parts of the show. The last two stages are a bit more impractical and messy from that point of view, because they have your attention going everywhere. Also, the layout of the catwalks make it so that Gaga has to divide her attention towards certain parts of the audience, whereas the Monster Ball was much more centered in that sense. And in the end I just feel like a bigger production makes the show look more soulless. The Monster Ball seemed like a perfect mixture between production value and genuine theatre. gagaisitalian 3,573
Here: The first one wasn't even used the entire tour, and even if it was, it's better than anything from the artRave. And the second one...is one of my favorite costumes from The Monster Ball so I won't even argue with you about that because I'm biased. Those are both extremely fashionable pieces that fit into the storyline of TMB perfectly. At least she wasn't running around the stage in a octopus costume or..this... MonsterRocket 55
Yeah, I mean it only had a castle that moves, stage projections, hologram screen heads, inflatable vaginas, meat racks, guns, floating dresses, eggs, etc I didn't say the BTWB wouldn't have its things. I said it was great in fact. Anyway, it didn't have as dynamism as TMB. The interludes, the DITD projection, the piano-car, the subway etc involved a more technological work, which made it look more big-show alike. The technology/music/fashion instalation belonging together was better constructed. The BTWB was way more organic. She even said it in an interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96Cp1N1lryU Even if the organic things is not such a bad thing, it made it look cheaper compared to the technology of TMB. You just can not compare the DID intro to the HU one.

The DITD one is definitely iconic but it is definitely bit more expensive than the HU one.

I guess it was Gaga's intention maybe. In the interview she says her tours are like Star Wars, and that the BTWB is the episode I. Perhaps she wanted it to be that way. I personaly find BTWB to be her most experimental tour with difference and artRave ger most basic one(not that it's a bad thing, she wanted a party show). Dunk96 2,526
What more would you want from the setlist? She played every song from TFM and 8/16 Fame songs. And lol at the choreo comment. Her dancing during TMB sh*ts on artRAVE, she was toned and athletic as hell back then and she worked it on a whole other level
LaLuna 12,732
All I know is, it was a bloody damn good show, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself both times I saw it. Now, I'm not saying it was perfect, and whenever I watch it on DVD I tend to skip some parts (especially the parts where she performs non-singles from TF), but there's just something very special about it. It helped Gaga build a stronger connection with her fans. And those ****ing intro and interludes still slay me after all these years
Rome 176
Here in GG all of Gaga's projects that succeed are called overrated, then when she flops is the second coming
Bellatrix 34,800
monster ball overrated? monster ball unperfect? BTWBall better than the iconic Monster ball? where is my ****ing shovel? This.. Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?
Bebe 17,094
The Monster Ball is overrated because the HBO special allowed it to be captured in HD. Lets be real TBTWB >>>>> The Monster Ball >>>>> ARTrave. The Monster Ball is amazing, ARTrave is fun, but TBTWB was perfection.
