Lana Del Rey: "I'm not selling the record"

Ofc, since she gets money from her father anyway...

And money from her albums and gigs :emma:

~~~~
I'm not surprised she has this mentality at all tbh.
She always seems quite comfortable during her concerts (Going down to meet fans/interacting/the usual/etc) but she really doesn't seem to like going and performing on TV Shows lmao
This!
Lana could be making MILLIONS touring the album, but she isn't. She created an album full of music SHE loved, and released it. She's been making music videos SHE creates, and releases them. She really is just an artist who creates things for herself--and hundreds of thousands of people also happen to enjoy what she creates. Lana has a rich family, she couldNT care less about the money.
Well said tbh :applause:
Well, who cares if the album is selling millions or not. I personally love UV, one of the best albums ever and i hope she will continue to music just for her, because i seem to really enjoy it.
Of course she wants the album to sell, that's a lie. If she wanted to do music just for the art, she'd sing in front of her mirror. That's why she's a recording artist, she's supposed to sell.
Damn, these people really want the public to pay attention to them.
Go starve and let's see if you really keep working on albums and not sell them.
she definitely make money off the album and music. She has frequented hotels and restaurants that Celebrities in Hollywood go to. That means you need quite a bit of bank roll to afford to eat and stay at those places. And no these establishments don't let them eat or stay for free. Well unless your Lady Gaga lol
Mess. Gaga doesn't stay anywhere for free.
Well she didn't lie. There was 0 promo for UV but it still managed to sell A LOT. She didn't sell out to be even bigger, in fact, UV is less mainstream than BTD
Princess Die
She's an alternative/indie pop singer who is not supposed to be MAINSTREAM.
And yet she signed the contract. No-one held a gun to her temple. She was fully aware that this could happen.
Nod if you wanna make love with the enemy. ❤
Old interview.  But if you don't go and sell your album and the label doesn't make money, guess what, no more record contract.  It's a business.  They invest in you to MAKE money.  You were given the privilege of making an album with no compromises by the end (no thanks to your label but ultimately caved) but don't b---h about promoting it.  It doesn't have to be a full-on promotion, but a young artist shouldn't take her contract for granted.  By the way, I still love Ultraviolence.
