Rat Boy 43,337
Disadvantaged? Yeah ok. Because you're poor, you have to eat crap. No. Show me someone who's stuck to healthy eating and a good exercise routine for over a year and not lost a significant amount of weight and I'll show you a liar. It's not my opinion, even, it's a fact. As someone who was 'disadvantaged' and met with medical barrier after medical barrier during any and all attempts to reach a healthy stage, I'm definitely at a point in life where I can identify people that just don't try. You know how these people decide exercise and diet don't work? Because they stop and say "that didn't work". You don't stop. It never stops. IF you want to get any result, it's a forever thing. I'm not arguing at all, by the way, I just think you need to look at it more objectively and look at case studies. There's nothing to stop anyone that's physically capable, from losing weight. Genes or no genes, they just have to work harder but don't. I meant disadvantaged as in biologically disadvantaged. Obviously one is going to stop trying to do something if it proves ineffective. Stop generalising your own case to the situation and conflict that every obese person in the world faces. xzxyyxzx 116
Willpower = lack of laziness. People who quit are quitters. That's about the size of it. My family are mostly overweight - drastically overweight, and I've had results from some of them before when they've been moaning about being fat - but then they just quit. "it's too hard" or "I don't have time" etc. It's actually a bit pathetic. Make time. Yes it's hard, too bad. I find it incredibly hard. I am predisposed to gaining weight very easily. I have regular anxiety attacks in the gym because I still suffer with body dysmorphia and can't handle large groups of people too well (unless I'm hammered). I have had THE hardest time losing and maintaining my weight - many fluctuations, but it gets to that point where if your jeans don't fit, you need to work a bit harder at the gym because you've clearly fallen off the wagon - don't buy new bigger jeans, that's stupid, it's like buying an emergency cake incase you fall off the wagon so you can eat it lol. I have arthritis, too, in my knees and back, which means exersize is no walk in the park for me. I have an under active or overactive thyroid (whichever makes you fat) which means I am extremely limited with my diet and have to be incredibly strict. No it wasn't "fairly easy" for me. It was a ****ing massive struggle and will be a struggle for the rest of my life - but it's worth it. You know why? I'm not going to wake up in a hospital bed one day wishing I'd done something about my weight before a heart attack. I'm not going to be injecting insulin and wondering why I didn't avoid the donuts. I don't get out of breath walking up stairs - my knees still hurt but not because I'm carrying too much weight - I don't have to ask for seatbelt extenders on aeroplanes. That's why it's worth it. Plus, I look pretty good naked (aside from the few stretch marks :/ ) So, no. It isn't easy for anyone. But people who defend overly fat people (a bit of weight is fine, it's not an issue as long as health is ok) are adding to the problem. Nothing's making them sad except for their fat and results of being fat. It's something they can but won't do something about. I have less than zero sympathy. Leo 3,000
To anyone who doesn't know her, she says that she won't let her children be friends with other children if she doesn't like their names, because she uses people's names to judge their social class and from this decides if they are worthy to be her children's friends. No joke.

Rollercoaster 2
Get over yourself Die. :) I meant disadvantaged as in biologically disadvantaged. Obviously one is going to stop trying to do something if it proves ineffective. Stop generalising your own case to the situation and conflict that every obese person in the world faces. I'll let the experts do the talking: http://www.bodyandsoul.com.au/health/health+news/obesity+lifestyle+or+geneticsr,17153 The experts said - Campbell acknowledges that exercise and diet changes are two essential actions that an individual must take to lose weight, but argues that genetically, people prone to being overweight are often not the types to easily burn fat or be able to control their appetites, so it can be harder for them to see the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. "Many need to exercise excessively and hardly eat at all to manage their weight," she says. "Their genetic make-up means they can exercise as much as a scrawny person but struggle to lose weight. "Other genes can stop people realising they're full, so they don't know when to stop eating." While the experts are divided on how important genetics are regarding obesity, many agree that it's a societal issue and not an individual's personal burden. "If the majority of us are predisposed to being overweight or obese, then measures need to be taken in the community and by governments," Campbell says. AKA what I said. It's difficult, but so what? Of course it's not going to be easy.

Exactly, it's difficult and many people try very hard and still don't loss much weight and to make such a bold statement and call them lazy (despite their ttireless effort) is unfair. Edit: Wow did you just tell someone to die. Not going to bother talking to such a vile and narrow minded person. No wonder you don't have any sympathy. If they put in enough effort and didn't stop until they got results - they'd have results. Yes it takes different amount of time for different people - but these people quit, and that's what makes them lazy. It took me over a year to move a good chunk of my weight, and I trained like an olympic athlete. My fitness was ridiculous. But that's what it takes, and some people don't have that drive or willpower, or energy, I guess we'd need to define different types of laziness to find out what to call it. Haroon 49,685
You do realise that people can be genetically predisposed to being overweight. Current research has proven that genetics is a key role in weight gain and body type. You can't just make the assumption that people who are overweight are overweight because they are lazy and make excuse after excuse. Absolutely, but that doesn't mean people can't combat their genetic dispositions Sure endomorphs have it harder to lose weight, but that doesn't mean they can't lose weight because they definitely can with calorie control and exercise Just as ectomorphs can gain weight & muscle with the correct diet and exercise Whether they do or not depends on their willpower, perseverance, and motivation

HANZ 4,380
yes drag the world I honestly agree with her and no genes are not an excuse even the professional trainers agree that genes can make you fat, it's true, but that doesn't mean you should stop trying or anything, you can have bad genes in you and still stay fit, you just need to work harder but you can still do it ;) My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

Katie14 4,828
People complaining are stupid. Tbh losing weight is a necessity for many people but excuse after excuse rolls in instead of action. I used to be fat. I havent been for 8 years. There are very few barriers to being healthy, so if being fat makes you ill or sad, its your own fault. Put down the noodles and get jogging. Nobody ever died from being healthy. People saying fat people are victimized or made to feel bad... so? They make themselves feel bad half the time and comfort eat, get fatter, develop arthritis and diabetes and die. Why not just get up and stop whinging? Excuses excuses. The thing is, some people have addictive/obsessive personalities. For example, if there is chocolate, cookies, ice cream, or any type of desirable dessert in my house, I literally cannot stop thinking about the dessert. The thought of eating it is permanently stuck in my head. It is extremely difficult for me to just have 1 portion, put it away and then get on with the rest of my day. I keep craving it all day and it’s the most prominate thought running through my head until its gone. Most people in this situation want to eat it, but sort of forget about it after while. My solution is to just not have unhealthy stuff laying around the house in the first place. I rarely ever buy it. Also, my overwhelming desire to maintain thinness overcomes my food obsession. Some people don’t have as much of a desire to be thin, so their cravings win. Basically what I’m saying is its unfair to assume that everyone has the same level of difficulty when trying to lose weight. Our brains don’t all work the same way. And I havn’t even mentioned genetics or environment.
Batwings 12,871
She has the ability to do this because her lifestyle permits it, so she's still basically being a b---h just for the sake of being a b---h. I also hate how (as usual), some of you are so hung up on your obsessive FAT = THE MOST HORRIBLE THING IMAGINABLE! mentality that you can't even realize that she's being a b---h just for the sake of being a b---h.
