SlaeUrAnus 15,591
That says more about your limited sense of humor than her responsibility to cater to it Nearly everyone deserves sympathy in death, no matter what you personally think of them. Has she killed anyone? Has she indirectly killed anyone? Is she a parasite like Perez? Is she insensitive? Yes. I do hope she gets better though. Chic 20,830
Is she insensitive? Yes. So are you with that post, I could easily say you don't deserve sympathy in death either, but I won't, because I'm not rude and I don't believe in not respecting people in death. SlaeUrAnus 15,591
Apologies if I came across like that. I just did not like the things she said about Palestinians etc. I guess I was being rude. I hold my hands up. In my messy era.

Chic 20,830
Would Perez deserve respect on his death bed? Just asking. No, but what he did is worse than what Joan's ever done. He's dedicated his career to ruining other people's careers. He's been remarkably cruel to people. I would expect someone like that other user to start having no sympathy for someone's death on someone who's actually made it their life goal to destroy other people's careers, rather than beginning such a distasteful wish with someone as harmless as Joan Rivers. Especially when she's actually really nice in person. Edited September 1, 2014 by Chic

He's been mean, Joan has been mean too. Joan is known for mocking people's appearances in the name of comedy but if any other ordinary person would "joke" like that irl he/she would get slapped. People on this site were making fun of her looks and just insult her in general whenever she would mention Gaga in negative way, whether it's Gaga's clothes or Gaga's "big nose". Now suddenly everyone loves her and they were always fans and no one else is allowed to say anything different from that. He didn't, but his actions are more reprehensible to the point at which I would expect other people to start having no sympathy in death for them, not that I believe his actions were so morally wrong that he doesn't deserve to be respected in death. To be fair, you don't really allow anyone to say anything that differs from your opinion in the Israel/Palestine crisis situation. In both that and this thread, you're allowed to speak your minds but there is a lot more hate for someone having a disagreement with the general consensus in that thread than this one. I get that she's only doing what she does to "entertain", but she's said some pretty harsh things about celebrities over the years, and she's hurt the feelings of many people. Even if they're just "jokes", her comments are often cruel and unnecessary, and trust me, her words are far from being harmless.

She's hurt feelings, yes, but she's never gone so far as to deliberately jeopardize someone else's career. Even then, she would still deserve respect and sympathy in death. It just comes down to it, how much something affects you personally and what it takes for you to lose respect you had for someone. It looks like it's different for everyone. If you're from USA and your fave says something like "all the victims of 9/11 deserve to be dead, they voted for this government, they're stupid why they didn't get out sooner...etc", I think it would affect you and you wouldn't try hard to justify those words. I'm from New York and my birthday is on 9/11 and I still wouldn't lose sympathy for Joan in death if she said that. Yes, I may lose respect for her, but during her imminent death I would still have respect for her at least then. However, there are just some things I think she knows not to say about the U.S. She didn't say anything then. She clearly doesn't know a lot about the Palestine situation and is just pissed off by everyone talking about it so she said something offensive out of spite to get everyone talking. 9/11 is a one sided situation though, most people are on the U.S's side that it was a horrible act of terrorism to happen. Maybe you wouldn't lose respect, but I think most Americans would. I said, if that would happen...so just try to imagine why others wouldn't look over that. ARTPOPisaChoice 946
I mean, I understand not liking her for what she has said, but we haven't been there her entire life. We don't know what kind of person she truly is. Her position on the Israel-Palestine conflict is cringe-worthy IMO, but none of us personally know her. We should offer sympathy to her family in these times of trouble. lucia4 0
Are you guys seriously debating whether this old dying woman deserves sympathy or not? She's not Hitler. Come on.
