Does anybody not realize that these numbers are the new norm? If people would stop illegally downloading and would actually buy albums, sales would be better for everyone. The only artists that are going to be able to break the 250k+ barrier anymore is going to have to appeal to many groups of people (Eminem (feat. Rihanna on every track)) or already been around for a decade or so with a dedicated and vast fanbase (Coldplay).
