If Britain were a U.S. state, it would be the second-poorest

Economics for primary school children, maybe? Surely you've been taught about variables by now and noticed the lack of them in your article?

The only variable is GDP. Congrats you called it out. Now if that's all you have to say, leave. :)

I am not seething and I am not mad at all. But if you're going to sit here and derail my thread about other things like cultural value, healthcare, quality of life, which is a better place to live in, I WILL report you.

This is an article/topic about GDP alone. If you cannot respect that/wish to talk about other things, either make your own thread or go into one of the MANY designated anti-US/US bashing threads.

Then change your title

1. EU countries aren't independent. They depend on each other and on the EU. 90 % of all laws made there are made by the EU.

2. I'm 100% you can't predict the future

3. Yes and that is where the flaw in the article is. You can't compare states to countries. I think I am allowed to criticize it right? All those "what if's" are going nowhere.

The states are much smaller that most countries and the article adjusts the GDP by population.

so if you want to adjust the USA's GDP by adding 27 other countries to it, then yes, you could compare the two.

Isn't it embarrassing that you can only compare the wealth of the US to Europe when you add together the GDP of every thingle country even though the US is it's own stand alone country?

And btw, if we are going to follow your criteria of comparing things, then states would be PERFECTLY comparable to European countries. Think of the USA's federal government as the EU. The federal government makes most of the laws for the states too. So tell me again why states and European countries aren't comparable by GDP?

Then change your title

To what?!?!? I just copied the title of the damn article!!!!

The title doesn't suggest anything about what country is better to live in. But please, keep complaining *eye roll*

From the article...

Nelson wrote that the United Kingdom’s low ranking showed Britain had “no reason to feel smug†about recent events in Ferguson, Mo.:

:noparty: What's that got to do with the UK's theoretical GDP as a US state?

It's already been said multiple times what this article is really insinuating and maybe if you had taken a little longer to read it objectively you would see it for what it is. I'm responding to your rather shoddy article and the replies you've been making that discredit it even further.

You've been rude to multiple members here and that's a sign of desperation. YOU KNOW this article is trash but you're awkwardly still trying to run with it. It's time to stop.

Funny, seeing as I'm a more talented writer than you'll ever be.

I'll believe that when I see it!

Keep telling yourself that though, maybe one day you'll write like English is your first language.

As an American can you explain what was being suggested though? I'm neither British nor American so am not sure what it has to do RE: the GDP of the country. Perhaps you could shed some light on this for me? :)

How dare you ask such a question, it is horrible of you to suggest a hidden agenda or motive to the article :smh:

The person that was quoted was commenting on the UK's elitist attitude towards America (which can me seen in the thread pages 1-all of them) and he was making a snarky (and probably uncalled for) rebuttal, which was probably unprofessional of him.

Now move on.
