Nope, nothing get's deleted. As long as you click upgrade and not clean install all your files and programs will stay.

Oh and about the free for a year thing. That's the time frame in which you can claim the free upgrade. After that you will have to buy the software if you didn't get the free upgrade within this year. So no need to worry, as long as you get it tomorrow you should be set. At the end of this year they will push another major upgrade which will include new features and this will extend your license and they will keep doing that so you should be set for the next, let's say 10 years.

No you don't have to pay for them. With the new "Windows as a service" thing they are doing it like what Apple does with their OS, the future upgrades will be free.

And i'm not sure about skipping them. Not much word is out on the upgrade at the end on the year but i'm sure they'll recommend that your upgrade for security reasons and stuff. When the time comes closer and we get more info i'll let your know.

Windows 10 Home (upgrade from W7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and W8) has no option to disable automatic updates while Windows 10 Pro (upgrade from W7 Professional, Ultimate and W8 Pro) will have an option to disable any updates

also the Redstone updates should come out around Q1 2016  And Windows 10 Mobile hopefully this fall

Oh, Windows 10 Pro for the win then. Kinda sad that they are forcing some people to upgrade tho, I mean when I had Windows 8 I didn't install any updates for almost a year. :smh:

And i'm excited to see what new stuff they bring when the Redstone update.

Oh and did you see the new leaked info about the next Lumias? Makes me want to get one tbh.

Yeah Cityman and Talkman (probably Lumia 950 and 950 XL) look amazing from the specs  But I just got a Lumia 1520 last October so it will be quite a while before I can get a new phone :lmao:

Well you can't really see it downloading because they are doing it secretly but you can check to see if the files are on your PC. Do you have Windows 7 or 8?

Windows 8. A bit shady of them to be downloading files sneakily.

First go to your File Explorer

Click the "View" button at the top

Then check "Hidden Items"

Untitled.png

Then just go to your Lock Disk and you should see a folder named "$Windows.~BT"

Right click it, click proprieties and tell me how many GB's is the folder.
