No Angel 128
This is like exactly what she said right before ARTPOP and right before the G.U.Y. video I mean, this is a ****ing joke at this point. Agree.... she was especially giving out subtle depressing posts about 'opinions' and not wanting to be a 'label puppet' on LM.com around December-January, too. Just going back and forth with things. Just a mess at this point. I'd rather her not talk about this anymore. The more she talks about ARTPOP not being up to her expectations, the more she's going to keep thinking about it and never moving on from it; same with fans. Let's just do this Cheek To Cheek album and move on from there.
Levine 23,709
I'm confused. Is she happy with ARTPOP or isnt she? Because if she 'wasn't herself' before, does that mean that the material on ARTPOP was forced on her? I think what happened with Troy made her hate this album/era. Jesus christ you guys are SO annoying. No, this isn't the first time she's said something like this. But guess what, she's a person just like you and me, and she's entitled to feel a certain way more than once in her life. What because she's a pop star she's only entitled one period of depression, one transition? I'm happy that she's happy.
Miel 15,009
I'm confused. Is she happy with ARTPOP or isnt she? Because if she 'wasn't herself' before, does that mean that the material on ARTPOP was forced on her? My guess is that the situation was complicated, both personally and in the business aspect. ARTPOP did seem incredibly important to her, but a lot of people (myself included) have speculated that the final tracklist on the album is not the one that she intended. I know for fact that a lot of things in general that came out as final with ARTPOP were not what she intended, be it single choices, art direction, promo, or whatever. Also, I think she was just having a hard time. She just came out of a physical and possibly mental-emotional recovery while working on the album, and then she stated she felt like she was being used up right after she came back. As a person, I'm sure that's not something one wants to feel at all, to be debased to something little more than a marketing ploy, no matter how much freedom she was given before (probably the basis for her problems with Interscope). Then there's Troy and the whole managing situation which I don't even know at all. I think she took winter off as a break, and reevaluated what she wanted to do not just with herself, but with the remaining potential of the album she never got to present how she wanted to. She said creating ARTPOP was cathartic for her, and made her feel free- I can't imagine how she felt with all the issues going on with promoting it, from the issues I talked about above, to the whole slander/libel issue with Perez/Cheng, and the media just going after her. However and whatever she's doing now, I'm just glad she's doing much happier, as she says Agree.... she was especially giving out subtle depressing posts about 'opinions' and not wanting to be a 'label puppet' on LM.com around December-January, too. Just going back and forth with things. Just a mess at this point. I'm still surprised people didn't take all of that, along with the SXSW set/interview, and even the GUY video, into consideration. She was going through a lot of crap at that time. 3 points in and ready for more

She was going through a lot of crap at that time. Mhm. That whole time we were all on here thinking "What the hell is happening?" Then all of those things lead up to the G.U.Y. video, SXSW, etc. I think ARTPOP will mark a significant shift in her career. I don't know in what direction (genre-wise, success-wise), but it looks like she's going in any direction her mind takes her. So we'll just have to wait and see what place that is. Wet Fire 7,793
Aww love u Gaga! I know how pathetic it is when you can't feel yourself. I've suffered through this. You feel like your whole life and existance is a waste of time and soace. You wish you were never born. You wish you could turn back time. You're left broken. You start loathing yourself and think that you're cheating on yourself. It seems like impossible to get out of the darkness and see the light. I know it's hard when you don't feel yourself. You look at yourself with mysterious emotions, anger and pity and think you're not what you used to be and you hope someone could help you get out of this. Sorry for my melodrama. But I'm glad Gaga feels herself.
Anderson123 38,827
Has Gaga been happy during any of her album cycles ? :( I was thinking this too. When she was working on Born This Way, she said that this was her first REAL album and that it was her vision. When she was working on ARTPOP, she said that this was her favorite album and that this was her first REAL Debut or something like that. Now she's saying the same thing again? Is she not happy with any album? I think she has the idea of what she wants to do, but people around her and especially her label and manager tell her to change things. I'm sure if she had 100% word on what she does, we'd have Temple, Brooklyn Nights and so many other things right now. I just wish things get better for her. Rosalina 612
I've always felt that Gaga's initial vision for ARTPOP was far from what became the finished product. I'm not Gaga so I can't really speak for her, but I've always had the impression that ARTPOP was meant to be an Avant-garde, experimental, 'techy' type album, as indicated by songs like Tea, Onion Girl, Tinnitus, Temple etc. Unfortunately, it seems that Interscope probably felt the album was too experimental and artsy for the charts/general public, and so pressured her to make it more 'radio friendly'. I feel that she was pressured by the label into putting songs onto the tracklist that she had no intention of including in the first place. ARTPOP could have been an amazing album, and it's obvious that Gaga's vision was so much bigger and better than what ARTPOP ended up being. It's a crying shame, because we'll probably never get to hear what ARTPOP was truly meant to be.
Tropico 4,145
Uhm b---hes she never said she isn't happy with ARTPOP... The album clearly means a lot to her. She was loving the album in the beginning of the era because it healed her soul and stuff. What she doesn't like is the era. That's 'cause Troy was probably a dick. Some people will jump at any oppurtunity they get to drag this album I swear. #ChartFreaks :toofunny: ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢

Absolutely agreed, I and many others have pointed out how the album feels like a watered down compromise between commerciality and experimentalism, but doesn't fully commit to either, thereby suceeding at neither. I don't believe for a second she wanted songs like Donatella (which Troy built a partnership with E! around) and Fashion over the songs you mentioned, plus songs like Partynauseous. I'm sure we'll hear these songs some day. In the (probably distant) future she'll release a B-sides album. But until then I can't wait for the next album to be one that she's completely happy with and that isn't compromised, with a great era.
Whispering 18,865
But what exactly does "feeling like myself" mean? She's said it before and then later said that she felt it then, so it sometimes seems as if she doesn't actually feel like herself when she says that she feels like herself I hope I'm making sense True Clinical Depression is a slow and gradual decent into hell and it takes a while to climb back out of it. It doesn't happen all at once, going into or coming out of it. "Getting back to feeling like yourself" is a common feeling for people who have gone through a severe episode of Major Depressive Disorder. They are recovering from their illness. We are lucky, as fans, we ended up an unreleased video and cancelled app, and not another result like what happened with Robin Williams.

lavenderblondee 3,695
I feel like we've heard this so many times, so I don't know how to feel. But, I really hope she does feel good and is happy. I see now why she gave up on the ARTPOP era. It really seems like it wasn't her album, even though she made it out like this was the album she always wanted to do. She stopped performing song from the album saying "It was a bad time in her life" and I feel like that was a sign that ARTPOP the album really was written when she was in a bad state of mind. Moving forward and hopefully she can take time to see what she truly wants to do.
