Diamond Heart

Sam Smith's was so boring and his voice irritates me...

Beyoncé was absolutely #1 though, Iggy's and Rita's is 2nd, Ariana/Jessie/Nicki is 3rd, Taylor is 4th

I feel the exact same tbh

swine killer

Ok saw

I loved Beyonce, Sam Smith's vocals were amazing, Iggy was alright but kinda bored me, Taylor was cute and no complaints there, Usher had good vocals but something seemed off, 5SOS was good but not memorable at all, and I didn't even bother watching Maroon 5 bc I'm biased against the regardless. The opening though...Ariana's vocals during Break Free disappointed me and her stage presence was lacking, probably because her vocals were extremely weak. Nicki was amazing during Anaconda but I did expect a bit more than what we got. Jessie's vocals were amazing and Ariana was definitely much better singing Bang Bang so that was nice. Nicki was a bit awkward bc of her dress but overall Bang Bang was probably the best of the three songs.

Her outfit.. aura says; I dont want or can't wear this.

Didn't like Jessie J or Sam Smith

Loved Beyonce

I have to say I really don't think this year had any shock or great moments as some artists expected they could provide. Note to Nicki: Don't pre-hype. Do a Miley.

In last year's pre-VMA's, Miley hyped that she wanted an iconic/memorable performance

You proly didn't watch their performance. All the audience were jamming to it and they never stopped clapping. Many artists were also singing to the song while they where performing like Taylor, Charli, etc... Yeah, it was a very enjoyable performance. :)

Def not my fav VMA but it wasn't the worst

I'm not sure why people keep saying this was the worst VMA show. Did they not watch 2012..

So you must have seen how much the audience enjoyed it esp the big artists, they were jamming to it, and that is what important.

Yes, Sam was boring to me. I find his voice irritating, the high notes were technically vocally impressive but the annoyance overpowered that, leaving me with little appreciation for his vocal presentation. The visual aspect was minimal, as it was him literally just standing there. I have no problems with standing or sitting performances but his voice and the song are just not my cup of tea at all, and that combined with the lack of movement just weren't appealing to me. I didn't fall asleep during the performance though, I'll give him that, but that was only because his piercing high notes shocked me out of the daze, and not in a good way.

Iggy moved around a lot, rapped her part rather well and the song is just more enjoyable to me. They also added guitars to the mix and extended the intro/outro in a unique way.

I like artists who add to the songs with the performances. That doesn't mean they have to, but it would have made Sam's performance that much more palatable for me if they had some added instrumentation or ambience.

This is just my opinion though. I respect Sam but I have no interest in him musically or as an artist in general.

One of the reason I could see is bc Gaga didn't perform neither attended the show. Same goes for VMAs 2012, ppl would keep saying the show was boring bc obviously Gaga didn't perform too.
