maybe if she sang the choruses he wouldn't say that :koons:

This pretty much. The issue is that she doesn't bother singing maybe about 50% of each song she performs (minus the accoustic ones). Grow up Gaga. Learn to take criticism like a mature adult. And try singing more.

Why does she need to give the extra attention to some haters journalists? Lets just ignore them, this will give the article extra boost. Gaga, nobody has ever build the sculpture for critics.

Why are you guys praising her for this? It's immature and unnecessary. She should've ignored it or brought it up without insulting the reviewer.

Whispering

I never said Beyonce sang more actually. I don't think she does. I said she danced more and harder, and I understood then why not singing during choruses. I'm sorry if I wasn't more clear. I understand background singers can help fill in the sound of the song and maybe fill out the vocal, but the difference is then I at least hear Gaga's distinct vocal, not her voice buried in her own studio vocal. Background singers are there for a reason, to fill out and give the song a fuller sound in places or sing alone where it's called for. And I'm fine with canned backing vocals (used to some degree in every pop show) and don't need a pop singer a hundred percent live without layering, but just not as much as on ARTPOP this time with her live vocals in the forefront the least amount that she's ever been when singing to canned vocals. I've never had this complaint about Gaga before. So it's not something I don't get about pop shows.

I agree about Beyoncé, that she does rely on background vocals and also that does some active choreography for sure. My point was that when she isn't dancing (the National Anthem ;) ) and during slower songs or ballads or when she is basically doing s-x posing on a chair, Beyoncé is still relying on a heavy studio vocal. (or background singers in concert)  Even though she is doing a lot of dancing during many of her performances, she is not at other times, yet still doesn't drop the heavy studio vocal.

Background singers are there for a reason, but often they are used just as heavy as a background studio vocal. Background singers are there for a reason, but so are backing tracks. One can be used just like the other.

She keeps emphasizing how she sings live.

Because that's what she does. Same as Beyoncé.

I can be disappointed in that fact regarding the concert. Others could care less. Again, I still loved the show and it didn't hamper that, and that says a lot considering I'm not a fan of ARTPOP except a handful of songs. I almost didn't go because of that, that she was singing the whole album almost, but glad I did go. The show had terrific energy and many ARTPOP songs were better on stage and me dancing along to than for me when listened to on the album. The opening of one of my favorite songs of hers, ARTPOP, will always be a highlight for me.

Yes, you absolutely can! I too love how sometimes songs become different...better in a live setting, especially with an artist like Gaga. There are other artists that are able to do the same, of course, and Gaga is definitely in that group! I was never really a fan of BTW, except a few of songs, but I had bought my ticket to the BTWB because I knew that Gaga would present the songs in a way that had me enjoying them more or thinking about the music in a different way! It even happened with the ARTPOP songs, which is an album I love. Some of my least favorite songs became much better after I saw them performed live and other songs I appreciated even more! Like you, I loved the opening. After seeing videos, I didn't expect it to be so amazing...the videos just don't convey the moment. It is clear that Gaga knows what she is doing when she puts together a show!

I just hope she goes back to using backup singers some day. I find it so much more engaging and raw and impressive.

He never said she lip synced :awkney:

I just read the review and it didn't say anything about lip synching. :awkney:

"...Gaga's refusal to use back-up singers instead of a backing tape straight out of a Britney Spears concert. For a woman with pipes like Gaga it is a shame."

It is safe to say, the majorty of people reading that review will have no idea that there is a difference between a backing tape used for back ground vocals and just straight up lip syncing. To make a comparison between Gaga's vocals and the vocals at a Britney Spears concert is directly implying lip snycing to most people.

Put yourself in Gaga's shoes, this critic mauled her show and tore it from limb to limb....how could she not say something in response? She is just defending her work. I can't blame her for being pissed.

If I was that upset and felt that much of a need to defend myself, I'd do it much differently. I'd do it in a way that actually set the record straight, not just profanely lash out in a way that didn't even refute the insinuations that you say exist.

It's easy for you to pull the classic "I'd handle it differently" shtick because you aren't the one berated daily by the press and public everytime you leave your home. If you were mocked everyday for being an over weight, past your prime, pop star do you honestly think you would be able to handle it with more grace then Gaga does? Cmon', most of us would have had several mental break downs by this point.

Stop holding her to some weird stadard, she isn't a Congresswoman who needs to speak through measured talking points. She is a ****ing rock star who sometimes needs to say ****.

If you haven't been to the concert and are criticizing it please STFU. Videos and pictures DO NOT do it justice. Everyone who has gone knows this.

The reviewer is stupid as **** because you can clearly hear she is not lip syncing. **** him.

I love you

Yeah, you're probably right. I'm not criticizing Gaga. It was just funny because I was expecting it to be some article directly saying, "OMG Gaga doesn't sing live. She's lip synching!" only to not find him actually say that. (I get what you mean though.)
Im blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch.
