RBNLM 1,640
tbh there are some parts of the show where you can barely hear her voice because the backup tracks are way louder those parts are when she's not singing :)
HeavyPunkLover 2,120
I say just one thing: Stop thinking that you are entitled to have an opinion on her vocals if you are not attending her shows and your opinion is based on a poorly recorded youtube videos. Muh 144
those parts are when she's not singing :) an example MANiCURE's chorus, she always sings during that part or at least it seems so since she has microphone in hand and she moves her mouth but you can barely hear her voice
PopBitch 1,218
Do I have to go to "at least one show" to say that she uses heavy backup track? It's common knowledge and its obivous.This.True, he's ignorant in many of his comments and overbashed Gaga for sure. I think the concert was great. I don't like ARTPOP much as a whole album, but it was a fun concert. No complaints, except I would have loved more live singing.Regarding the comment about other popstars use backing tracks. These observations from me:Beyonce dances her ass off. Beyonce has great background singers on her tour. All pop concerts use backing tracks. That's no secret. Gaga is overusing hers this tour. It's been talked about on here and other fan sites. I noticed the difference compared to the last time I saw her. Her choreography is Britney basic (hand choreography) these days, except some great choreography on a few songs. She struts around a lot, like a rock singer does. Songs are layered and they have to recreate that in places, but Gaga's backing vocals were in the forefront a lot. A lot she just didn't bother to sing and would come in shouting out some lyrics. Then of course she has the choruses she doesn't sing. Sorry, but for someone who brags constantly to the media how she's a live singer, she's not completely a live singer. When you rely on backing tracks to the degree she did this tour, you can hide all of your weaknesses and going flat or not have to sing, letting your backing vocal really carry the song in places. I think she relied on the backing tracks this tour much more as far as letting them do the heavy lifting, and it was noticeable to many, not haters, to fans. I also think she should have had background singers like Beyonce, Pink, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, their recent tours. Backing vocals are used sometimes for layering or choreography and/or choruses, but background singers are also used at times while the singer is singing with no crutch, no loud backiing vocals of her own voice. It makes for a more live concert feeling, not just your own backing vocals used the whole concert. She does not lip sync, no, but she's using her backing vocals far more than she needs to this tour to do the work in the song, and I thought it was lazy in places. I love her voice and wanted to hear more of it actually live, not just singing along to the studio vocal a lot or just not bothering to do choruses when it's obvious she can in certain songs without heavy choreography.I talked to my uncle, who is 43, loves, loves, loves Gaga, and he took his little girl for her first concert. He absolutely loved the concert, but he also mentioned the same thing. He has been to other concerts of hers over the years.I expect to hear backing tracts at pop concerts. People a hundred percent right saying they are used. But I don't expect the popstar to be lazy in places that aren't necessary and when they aren't dancing their ass off like Beyonce. Mick Jaggar covers many, many miles a night on his stage. He takes ballet, runs miles preparing for the tour, so that he has vocal stamina while covering so much distance on stage a night. He's 70 years old. He sings live for two hours, no backing track, has background singers, but at least when he sings you know it's his voice. He's not pop. But his show is aerobic and his songs are hard rock songs. I don't expect Gaga not to have her vocals layered where needed or to not sing when dancing. I get that. It's pop. But when she's walking around I'd like to hear a live vocal or her vocals in the forefront. She was no better as far as how much live singing than Katy Perry this tour. It's just when she does sing she is a million times better, but relied on backing tracks just as much. That should not be the case. She's Gaga, for freakin sake, above the other pop girls. Again, she never let the backing tracks do this much work in other eras (much lower in the mix, with her vocals in the forefront) and her choreography is more basic or non-existent this tour, so no reason to rely that heavily on them, like walking around screaming and doing a few lyrics while the backing tracks sing the song. I think not having live background singers was not a good thing. I was surprised she didn't have them.Where it's been discussed.http://gagadaily.com/index.php/topic/102875-backtrack-usage/
Whispering 18,865
Do I have to go to "at least one show" to say that she uses heavy backup track? It's common knowledge and its obivous. Yes. Then you could hear that she is singing over the backing track or the harmonies. You could also see that she never lip syncs. You could plainly her Gaga's voice when she was moving her mouth. You could hear her parts of the songs. A phone or camera does not have the recording capabilities to pick up what people's ears are actually hearing in a live setting. ever watched recordings any kind of music productions for schools. They never sound like what you heard in person. A professional recording will be better, of course, but even then it won't be near the quality to what the audience heard live. The difference is that in the videos from TMB we can hear her singing the choruses clearly. This "the quality is bad, you need to be there" argument is completely invalid. We know there's a heavy use of backing track and we knows she can do without it. I know she doesn't lipsync though, Im not ignorant :) This. PopBitch 1,218
hello she recently broke her hip. That wasn't my point. In choruses, when you aren't dancing your ass off, why not sing the chorus?
Kermit the frog 1,921
hello she recently broke her hip. She has no trouble slaying DWUW live. Why? Cuz she's got a toned choreo and a hand-held mic. Those are the keys to a perfect Gaga performance.
