nikola 4,342
Half the fanbase trashes Katy cause she never dares to take a risk and sounds the same for last 5 years. People call Anaconda bad and Shake it Off basic. Gaga wants to do something different and hell breaks lose All of the sudden it's only about pop....yeah ok... well is she wanted to do punk,rock,disco...... people woul be here for it but she decided to do music that is basicly dead since like 1950(sad but true) and when you ask kids this day what is jazz they will say idk or boring **** music soo yeah i can understand why most of little monsters are not up for this and i am ok with jazz i listen to it and i am ok if she does another jazz album but not two in the row i want something difrent after c2c....some rock maybe or idk and then she can do another jazz album I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"

giskardsb 12,565
You all realize that Michael Buble is world famous, hugely popular and has a much more diverse fanbase than Gaga right? Gaga doing Buble type shows would show off all her range and fit her to a T IMO. I don't think she'll quit pop, but if she became a combo of Buble and Celine and Elton she would take over the world just as much as a pop star with a fickle audience. Alex C 254
A part of me is having fun with all of this, because -as a fanbase- we showed how much spoiled brats we are when it comes down to the thirst of having the pop music we envision, individualy. I kinda love her even more for her character, even though I effin CRAVE a new pop album a'la Born This Way. please? please? pls gags? k,thnx,bi -- alex xoxoxoxo Perform Living
hookerfreak 30
hardly any of her fans are jazz fans, fair enough if she wants to do it but it means she's doing it for herself
Benji 20,113
Half the fanbase trashes Katy cause she never dares to take a risk and sounds the same for last 5 years. People call Anaconda bad and Shake it Off basic. Gaga wants to do something different and hell breaks lose All of the sudden it's only about pop....yeah ok... Gaga's been doing jazz since Born This Way's era though, we know she can "do" jazz. I'd rather get an acoustic, rock. trance, whatever album after C2C! I like Gaga's jazz but I don't think we need two albums of covers, it's pretty dull. If she released her jazz version of Applause, some of her other songs or written some jazz music then I would be here for it more! Also whilst I see and understand your point about Katy, I think we can both agree that Gaga's pop music is on a whole other level to most of what we hear by other current pop artists! :)
Benji 20,113
Here was the last sentence in that paragraph you are obsessing over and won't let go: "This side project might just inspire her to do a jazzier Pop album. Maybe instead of power rock ballads, it will be power pop ballads with a jazz flavor. Maybe a quirky Adele? Who knows, really?" In what way does that say that I believe that jazz standards will cross over to mainstream music? It doesn't. Adele does not do jazz standards that get played on mainstream radio, therefore saying "maybe a quirky Adele" doesn't in any way mean I think Gaga is going to do jazz standards in hopes that Pop radio will suddenly start playing them. Gaga doing Jazz standards might mean she ends up infusing some jazz flavor into an upcoming album one day...or maybe it will just be with a few ballads she writes? None of those thoughts I stated before or now say that I believe, in any way, shape or form that Pop radio is going to start playing songs from The Great American Songbook! If you didn't understand what I was talking about before, now you should. I really don't know how to make it any clearer. I didn't say you were looking forward to two albums in a row (which we both agree is just a big rumor anyhow) This was my exact statement: "So, REALLY you are looking forward to the album?" The word album is singular, it refers to one album. I'm just quoting you. I didn't get that you were actually open and interested in a jazz album, but just joking for a big laugh from your comments before, but now I know.. Glad we got that straightened out, because I thought you were serious about all the comments. Please, I pointed out what came across as insinuated, that's hardly "obsessing" I'm dropping this now because I can't even remember what made you quote one of my posts. If it was the one about hip-gate etc then I'm clearly showing my dissatisfaction at the thought of having two jazz albums in a row with a little bit of humour, my apologies if that went over your head! I still stand by and mean what I said, I can't think of anything more dull for Gaga to do than two albums of covers in a genre that to me is one of the dullest we have in the world but I just posted them in a slightly more humours way because like so many pointed out, that's more interesting and insightful than a "bye". It'd be more interesting for Gaga to explore a different genre than one she's shown she can "sing" in since 2011. I mean she's "exploring" a genre by just covering some old songs? It'd be far better if she created jazz versions of her songs and released them or write songs, or even better.. explore a more interesting genre. Slojo 51
The problem is if she listened to the fan base her next album would be a poprocktrancepowerballardsmetalpunkedmelectrodance one. :) So best she ignores everyone and just does what she wants to do ----- Jazz
Kayla 7,595
I just watched Saturday Night Live again for the first time in a while, and I actually wonder what it'd be like if she "jazzified" some of her pop songs. I really liked what they did with Applause on SNL. And of course some original jazz songs would be awesome too if it happened. :) That'd be really cool. A lot of her songs sound good acoustically, so I bet a jazz version wouldn't be too bad!

And I explained to you several times exactly what that paragraph meant and what it didn't mean. I couldn't have made it any clearer. My paragraph wasn't a big, sassy joke. Yes, Gaga is exploring the genre of jazz music, by way of recording an album with Tony Bennett. Tony Bennett does albums from The Great American Songbook, therefore a duet album with him means that the music selections will come from this source. This has been known for months. If you truly are "looking forward to this album", then you know what is going to be on it. Those are all your opinions, and that's fine that you feel that way (I'm assuming you aren't being sassy and joking in your last paragraph) but there are those fans that don't agree with you and are looking forward to a duet album with Tony, which they understand was always going to be jazz standards. There are many casual fans who are excited about this album and even non-fans who are interested in this collaboration. Also, the media and industry thus far have been very positive about this upcoming release. Most importantly, Gaga doesn't agree with you. She believes that it is "better for her" to do a duet album with Tony at this time. Recording an album with Tony is something she has wanted to do for a while and in her eyes, it is a chance of a lifetime. She's excited and happy about getting to work with one of her Idols, who is and always will be a music legend. I just said it'd be far more interesting for me if she recorded original material or jazz versions of her songs. I stated multiple times, I'm gauging from the reactions here and the other big Gaga fansite. I'm glad some people are here for two albums of jazz on the trot but personally and from what I've seen, not many fans online are! We're just repeating ourselves now and the original point of whatever this was, has long faded away.
