All of Lady Gaga's albums have been mastered for iTunes.

is this a "mastered for itunes" thing? the songs aren't remastered at all in that case. mastered for itunes does nothing to the mixing of the songs which is what remastering does, it's just the way the file is compressed into the lossy format they use on itunes.

basically it's to do with file size + quality ratio. but they're still lossy files so it's pretty much a marketing thing.

Well I'm listening to Born This Way now and Americano and Hair are noticeably different.

Some people can't hear the differences, like some argue there's no difference in the master of ARTPOP for iTunes and various rips of the CD but it sounds completely different

By "The Fame" do you mean TFM as well?

I'm not actually sure. The Fame Monster rolled out a few weeks ago on iTunes and was explicit so it may have been remastered for them too? Someone would have to check who previously had the clean only on iTunes

tracks played directly from the cd or ripped in a lossless format are always going to be better quality than an itunes store lossy download.

But I converted them to mp3 when I ripped them. lol

I'm confused

Whatever my ears are terrible anyway.  :toofunny:

This may sound rude but if you seriously think "mastered for iTunes" sounds better than Lossless then you better get your ears checked :Emma:

I ripped ARTPOP myself, listened to other rips people done and to me the iTunes version sounded better.

To me, after listening to various Born This Way rips... this certainly sounds a little clearer. Go listen to Americano and Hair and you should be able to hear the difference.

I don't think they're suggesting that :emma: iTunes versions are the best ones in small file sizes. Oc a lossless will be better but their Beyoncé VMA 2014 live performance's length kind of sizes are too much for some devices
