LaMaisonGaga 23,884 Posted August 15, 2014 Share Posted August 15, 2014 A federal appeals court on Wednesday cleared the way for same-s-x marriages to be performed in Virginia as soon as next week, denying a request to stay its ruling striking down the state’s ban on the unions. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, on a 2-1 vote last month, upheld a lower court ruling saying the ban violated constitutional guarantees of due process and equal protection. By the same vote, the judges refused the request for a stay. Unless the Supreme Court steps in like they've already done TWICE this year in gay marriage cases. Trust me, I live in Virginia, I want marriage equality here. But the Supreme Court is most likely going to issue an emergency stay. I'm a Virginian (HEY MJH?!??) and we all kind of expect the Supreme Court to intervene. If they don't... This is a BIG one if gay marriage is legal in a southern state. And arent Supreme Courts suppostu be more sensitive to human rights? Here in Canada in 2005 while the Government was still arguing over the issue the Supreme Court of Canada is the ine that stepped in and said it had to be legalized because not allowing it went against Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms!
