I wonder if she wore it for the style... Someone on her team had to know the difference between Japanese and Korean.

Do your own research.

It's true that she meant no harm and it's true that people are way too sensitive, but she should've known better, especially since Tokyo is apparently her favourite place in the world (like all other places in the world, lol).

Japanese-Korean relations haven't been exactly perfect and she should be aware of the "dumb white person" stereotype.

It's not like korean and japanese writing systems are diffucult to differenciate...

Hello Mr. Radio

Did it occur to any of you that the designer might be Korean and she just feels like wearing something colorful, regardless of who made it?

That's like English people freaking out if someone wears clothes with Welsh letters on it :duck: Nobody's saying that England and Wales are the same thing, it's just something on clothes :rip: Why are people reading into it and finding things that aren't there?

Amen.

Asia needs to overcome it's racism. It's not just Japan unfortunately.

But yay for this!

I can understand why people are offended.  But it was just a mistake.  I think probably saw the outfit and thought it was cute and fit the culture.  Japan and Korea are obviously different places but they do share some cultural similarities, just like France and the US (used France as an example because the French speak a different language) do.

Exactly... A little paranoid, much? :toofunny:

It actually says more about the relationship between both countries than Gaga's views on Asia. And they think she's the one with a problem?  :dead:

not quite, english and welsh both use latin script, while japanese and korean scripts are two different systems completely. gaga went to japan wearing the script of another nation, seemingly just because it's asian. that's why they're offended.

I respect you so much

It's embarrassing, to say the least. It shows what an utterly careless white girl she is.

But it's not offensive :smh: like, it wouldn't get upset me if she went to Mexico with Portuguese words on her outfit. It'd just make me cringe and discredit her a little bit.

The world is so PC these days. Gaga isn't some systematic menace against the Japanese people. She's a goddamn popstar who most likely cared more about the color than what was on it.

She's worn Versace in America does she think it's Italy? How embarassing!

Maybe she liked it because it was colorful and obviously Asian inspired, therefore fitting for where she was, in Asia! Maybe she knows it has Korean words on it but she just couldn't wait to wear it!

How could you even be mad at something like this? If I wore a shirt that said "Bonjour" in Italy, does that mean I'm racist and think France and Italy are the same or does that mean I just happen to be wearing a shirt that says Bonjour in Italy...

This most likely simply stems from the fact that there's a lot of racism against Koreans in Japan (and vice-versa).
