Convicted Rapist Returns to High School, on Football Team

I support his right to an education, although I do also question why he is even allowed in a high school as a registered s-x offender.

The fact that he's on the football team again is disgusting though. It just goes to show how trivially the administration is treating his conviction. It shows where their priorities are.

 

 

He should be educated online or in a GED program, not in a buliding with his peers. That seems strange to me.

 

But in regards to football, if he possess a specific set of skills that make him a good athlete I don't think he should be prevented from playing. Football isn't just an extracurricular activitie, it is potentially a career. He served his time, thats the end of it, you don't get to punish someone for the rest of their life.

But you're absolutely right. Football can be a career. I'm not going to feel bad for him because he raped a girl at a party. He raped a girl. He screwed himself over. He has no right to go back to an extracurricular activity. If he was banking on a career in football, he shouldn't have made those decisions.

But you're absolutely right. Football can be a career. I'm not going to feel bad for him because he raped a girl at a party. He raped a girl. He screwed himself over. I hate this football culture that's so prevalent in this country. Universities focus so much on sports too instead of praising actual academic achievements.

I don't think that prohibiting him from playing football is uncompassionate or excessive. Like I've said, high school athletics are a privilege, not a right. He raped a girl, and now he's back on the roster his first semester back, like nothing happened. I don't think that's just.

He violated the code of conduct. By the school's own rules, he shouldn't be on the team. He shouldn't be there. It's bull**** that he is. They're excusing his rape. He's not facing the appropriate consequences.

I have compassion for the victim. She deserves to see her rapist face appropriate consequences.
